Summary

This 2021 BMW M340i M Sport offers a near-perfect balance of daily usability and track-ready performance, positioned as the bridge between the standard 3 Series and the full M3. With mileage sitting well below the typical GCC annual average for its age, this sedan represents a high-value entry into BMW’s performance division. The Grey exterior is a neutral, highly liquid choice in the local market, ensuring better-than-average resale interest. For a GCC owner, the standout factor here is the B58 engine’s legendary reliability paired with a refined cabin that handles long cross-emirate commutes with ease. This Korean-spec model provides the same mechanical thrill as a local car while offering a competitive price point for serious enthusiasts.

This Car vs Other 2021 M340is

With just 43,460 km, this vehicle has been driven approximately 14,000 km per year, significantly lower than the 20,000–25,000 km GCC average. This low usage helps preserve the interior materials and mechanical components against the high-intensity heat common in the region. The Grey finish is one of the most sought-after colors for BMW sedans in the UAE, maintaining its appeal and value better than bolder alternatives.

M SPORT vs Lower Trims

Stepping up to the M340i M Sport adds critical performance hardware including the M Sport differential and M Sport brakes, which provide superior stopping power in fast-moving highway traffic. Unlike the 330i, this trim features an adaptive M suspension that can soften for city driving or stiffen for the twists of Jebel Jais. Inside, you get the M steering wheel and sport seats that offer better lateral support during spirited driving.

M340i vs Segment Rivals

Compared to the Mercedes-AMG C43 and Audi S4, the M340i is widely regarded for its B58 engine's smooth power delivery and thermal efficiency. It offers a larger 59-litre fuel tank than several competitors, extending range during long desert highway hauls. The BMW iDrive 7 system also remains one of the most intuitive interfaces for managing climate control and navigation in the GCC.

Running Costs & Resale

Real-world fuel consumption averages around 9.2 L/100km, though highway cruising can drop figures significantly thanks to the 48V mild-hybrid system. While this is a Korean-spec car, parts for the G20 generation are widely available across the UAE, Saudi Arabia, and Kuwait through a vast network of independent specialists and authorized centers. The M340i holds its value remarkably well for a performance sedan, typically seeing 12-15% annual depreciation, which is lower than many high-end rivals.

Performance & Capability

The 382 hp inline-six engine propels the sedan to a limited top speed of 250 km/h with effortless stability. The 500 Nm of torque is available from just 1,800 rpm, ensuring immediate overtaking power on multi-lane highways like the E11. Multiple drive modes allow the car to transform from a quiet executive commuter into a sharp, responsive sports car at the touch of a button.

Comfort & Cabin

The cabin features a driver-centric digital cockpit with a 10.25-inch display and high-quality leather seating for five. Triple-zone automatic climate control is standard, ensuring rear passengers remain cool during peak summer months. Excellent acoustic insulation keeps the cabin quiet even when cruising at high speeds, making it an ideal choice for regular travel between cities.

Safety

This M340i is equipped with a comprehensive suite of safety tech including Forward Collision Warning, Automatic Emergency Braking, and Lane Departure Warning. These systems are particularly valuable on fast-moving GCC roads to mitigate the risks of sudden traffic changes. The car also features standard LED headlights with high-beam assistant, providing exceptional visibility during unlit desert highway night drives.

The bottom line

This M340i is a prime choice for the enthusiast who needs a civilized daily driver that can outperform dedicated sports cars on the weekend. Its low mileage and strong color choice make it a safe, high-performance investment in the current UAE market.
