Summary

This 2013 Ford Edge SE is a robust choice for those seeking a dependable American-built crossover that handles the GCC's demanding climate with ease. Finished in silver—the region’s most practical and high-resale color—it remains visually sharp despite its journey across the emirates. While the mileage reflects a lifetime of active use, the 3.5-litre V6 engine is widely recognized for its durability and parts availability across UAE and Saudi service centers. This model stands out for its car-like handling paired with SUV space, making it a favorite for school runs and cross-emirate highway commutes. For a budget-conscious buyer, it offers a proven mechanical platform that is simple to maintain and perfectly suited to local fuel grades.

This Car vs Other 2013 Edges

With 285,000 km, this Edge has exceeded the typical annual average of 20,000–25,000 km seen in the GCC market, marking it as a high-mileage workhorse. However, its silver exterior is a massive advantage for local resale, as it hides dust and resists sun damage better than darker tones. Buyers can leverage the high mileage to secure a lower entry price while still benefiting from the reliable 3.5L V6 powertrain.

SE vs Lower Trims

The SE trim serves as the entry point into the 2013 Edge lineup, providing all the essential SUV comforts without the complexity of higher-trim electronics. It features standard 17-inch alloy wheels and reclining rear seats that are often missing in basic competitors. While it skips the dual-zone climate control of the SEL, its single-zone system is exceptionally powerful and optimized for rapid cabin cooling in desert summers.

Edge vs Segment Rivals

The Ford Edge often leads segment rivals like the Nissan Murano and Kia Sorento in terms of interior width and on-road stability. Its wide stance provides a more planted feel during high-speed highway travel between cities like Dubai and Abu Dhabi. Additionally, the Ford service network is one of the most established in the region, ensuring parts are affordable and mechanics are familiar with the platform.

Running Costs & Resale

Real-world fuel consumption for this V6 typically ranges between 10.7 and 11.2 L/100km, which is efficient for a non-turbocharged American SUV in GCC traffic. It runs comfortably on Mogas 95 or 91, making it compatible with all local fuel stations. While depreciation for American SUVs in the GCC is steeper than for Japanese rivals, the Edge maintains a loyal following, and silver remains the easiest color to sell quickly in the used market.

Performance & Capability

The 285 hp output ensures confident overtaking on the E11 and other major highways, even when the vehicle is fully loaded with family and gear. It features a 6-speed SelectShift automatic transmission that provides smooth shifts and a dedicated sport mode for improved response. With a 3,500 lbs (approx 1,587 kg) towing capacity, it is capable enough for light trailers or jet ski weekends.

Comfort & Cabin

Inside, the Edge offers a spacious five-seat layout with class-leading shoulder room, ensuring all passengers remain comfortable during long desert drives. The cabin is well-insulated from exterior heat and road noise, a critical feature for the local climate. Rear passengers benefit from reclining seats and dedicated air vents, while the boot offers a massive 912 litres of space, expanding significantly when the rear bench is folded flat.

Safety

Safety is a priority with the 2013 Edge, which achieved a 5-star overall rating from the NHTSA. Standard features on the SE trim include four-wheel anti-lock brakes (ABS), stability control, and a comprehensive six-airbag system. These features provide peace of mind on the UAE's fast-moving multi-lane highways, where active safety and structural integrity are paramount.

The bottom line

Perfect for a budget-focused driver or a growing family, this GCC-spec Ford Edge offers American comfort and V6 reliability at a price point that acknowledges its high mileage.
