Summary

This 2021 BMW M5 Competition Pack represents the peak of the F90 LCI generation, offering the refined styling and updated suspension geometry that significantly improved ride quality over early models. With mileage sitting just under 60,000 km, this vehicle has been driven well within the typical GCC average, ensuring it remains mechanically fresh for its next owner. The deep Blue finish is a highly desirable color in the local market, offering a sophisticated alternative to white while maintaining strong resale demand. In the competitive landscape of super-sedans, this M5 stands out for its unique ability to switch from all-wheel-drive security to a pure rear-wheel-drive drift mode at the touch of a button. For the GCC buyer, the standard Competition Pack is the definitive choice, providing the cooling and chassis hardware necessary to maintain peak performance during the region's intense summer months.

This Car vs Other 2021 M5s

At 59,534 km, this M5 has averaged approximately 20,000 km per year, which is notably lower than the 25,000 km annual average typically seen for executive sedans in the GCC. The Blue exterior is a premium choice that holds value better than flatter tones, especially when paired with the factory Shadowline trim included in the Competition Pack. Being an LCI (Life Cycle Impulse) model, it carries the larger infotainment screen and improved dampers that are absent on 2018–2020 examples.

COMPETITION PACK vs Lower Trims

The Competition Pack is a substantial upgrade over the standard M5, increasing output to 625 hp and adding a dedicated Track mode. It features a 7mm lower ride height and retuned shock absorbers borrowed from the M8 Gran Coupe, specifically designed to handle high-speed highway stability better than the base suspension. GCC buyers will also appreciate the M Sport exhaust system and unique 20-inch forged wheels that come standard with this trim.

M5 vs Segment Rivals

The M5 Competition primarily competes with the Mercedes-AMG E63 S and the Audi RS7. It leads the segment in drivetrain versatility, offering a 2WD mode that rivals cannot match, and features a larger 530-litre boot that is more practical for long-distance cross-border trips. Furthermore, the BMW iDrive 7.0 system in this 2021 model is widely regarded for having superior ergonomics and cooling control compared to the touch-heavy interfaces of its competitors.

Running Costs & Resale

Real-world fuel consumption averages around 10.6L/100km on the highway, though GCC city traffic will see this rise significantly. This is a GCC spec vehicle, ensuring it carries the full support of authorized service centers across the UAE and wider region, which is a critical factor for maintaining its 12–15% annual depreciation rate. Service intervals are condition-based, typically every 12,000 to 15,000 km, with major spark plug replacements scheduled every 60,000 km, making this an ideal time to buy.

Performance & Capability

The 3.3-second 0–100 km/h sprint is achieved through the sophisticated M xDrive system, providing immense traction for overtaking on fast-moving highways like the E11. With 750 Nm of torque available from just 1,800 rpm, the engine offers effortless power delivery even in extreme heat. The retuned suspension ensures that despite its track-ready credentials, the car remains composed and comfortable during long desert drives between Emirates.

Comfort & Cabin

The cabin is centered around the updated 12.3-inch central display and M-specific seats upholstered in premium Merino leather. Standard four-zone climate control is essential for the GCC climate, ensuring all five passengers remain cool during peak summer. The 16-speaker Harman Kardon surround-sound system and acoustic glazing provide a quiet, high-fidelity environment that insulates occupants from external road noise and heat.

Safety

The 2021 M5 comes equipped with a comprehensive ADAS suite including Lane Departure Warning, Blind Spot Monitoring, and Forward Collision Mitigation. For the high-speed multi-lane highways of the UAE, the Adaptive LED headlights with Auto High Beam provide exceptional visibility at night. The M-specific Head-Up Display allows the driver to monitor speed and navigation without taking their eyes off the road during spirited driving.

The bottom line

This M5 Competition is the perfect acquisition for a buyer seeking the ultimate balance of a daily executive commuter and a supercar-level performer. As a post-facelift GCC spec model with sensible mileage, it represents a secure investment in one of BMW's most iconic nameplates.
