Summary

This 2021 Mercedes-Benz V 250 in Black is a premier choice for high-end family travel or executive transport in the GCC. While its mileage reflects frequent long-distance use, it sits at a balanced point in its depreciation curve, offering the prestigious Avantgarde trim at a significant value compared to new. The Long Wheelbase (LWB) configuration ensures that even with a full seven-passenger load, there is ample dedicated cargo space for luggage. Its petrol powertrain provides the smoothness expected of the brand, making it a sophisticated alternative to traditional SUVs for urban and highway commuting. In the local market, the Black exterior remains a top-tier choice for professional resale and aesthetic appeal.

This Car vs Other 2021 V 250s

With 164,221 km on the odometer, this vehicle has covered more distance than the typical GCC average for a five-year-old car, which usually ranges between 100,000 and 125,000 km. However, this level of use is standard for premium people movers often utilized for inter-emirate travel or airport transfers, where highway kilometers are less taxing on the engine than city stop-start wear. The Black exterior is highly desirable in the UAE, ensuring it remains a liquid asset for future resale compared to unconventional colors.

AVANTGARDE LWB vs Lower Trims

The Avantgarde trim significantly upgrades the cabin experience with high-quality leather upholstery and ambient lighting that are absent in the base trims. Crucially for the GCC climate, it includes a more sophisticated climate control system with dedicated rear vents to ensure passenger comfort during peak summer months. The LWB (Long Wheelbase) designation is a major advantage, providing a 3,200 mm wheelbase that translates directly into superior legroom for second and third-row passengers compared to the Compact variant.

V 250 vs Segment Rivals

Against rivals like the Toyota Alphard or Honda Odyssey, the V 250 leads with its premium German engineering and a 1,030-litre boot capacity that remains usable even with all seven seats occupied. While Japanese rivals focus on soft-touch utility, the Mercedes offers a more composed highway ride and superior cabin insulation, which is essential for long desert highway hauls. Its height and presence also provide a level of executive prestige that standard minivans cannot match in a professional environment.

Running Costs & Resale

The 2.0-liter petrol engine is optimized for efficiency on long highway stretches, though real-world consumption in GCC stop-start traffic will be higher due to the vehicle's substantial curb weight. Service intervals are typically every 15,000 km, and Mercedes-Benz maintains one of the strongest authorized service networks across the UAE and Saudi Arabia, ensuring parts availability is never an issue. The V-Class holds its value better than luxury sedans, depreciating at a more stable rate due to high demand for premium transport solutions in the region.

Performance & Capability

Powered by a 200 hp 4-cylinder engine, this V 250 is tuned for smooth, linear power delivery rather than aggressive acceleration, making it ideal for chauffeured comfort. The automatic transmission is geared to keep the engine in its optimal torque band for effortless overtaking on multi-lane highways like the E11. Despite its size, the front-wheel-drive configuration and precise steering make it surprisingly manageable in tight urban parking environments found in Dubai and Abu Dhabi.

Comfort & Cabin

The interior is configured for seven occupants, featuring high-end captain chairs in the second row that offer individual armrests and adjustable positioning. The LWB frame ensures that third-row passengers are not compromised, providing genuine adult-sized seating throughout the cabin. Triple-zone climate control is standard on this trim, allowing the driver, front passenger, and rear occupants to maintain separate temperature settings—a vital feature for family trips across the Emirates during the hotter months.

Safety

Safety is comprehensive, featuring a suite of airbags that protect all three rows of passengers. Standard systems include Attention Assist to monitor driver fatigue during long desert drives and Crosswind Assist, which is particularly useful for maintaining stability on exposed highways during seasonal sandstorms. The vehicle also benefits from front and rear parking sensors and a high-resolution camera system to assist in maneuvering its extended wheelbase.

The bottom line

For a buyer seeking Mercedes-Benz luxury for a large family or a high-end transport business, this Avantgarde LWB offers a professional and spacious environment at a competitive price point for the 2021 model year.
