• Extensive GCC authorised service network

Summary

This 2021 Nissan Patrol Super Safari is a modern iteration of a desert legend, offering the mechanical simplicity and massive durability that GCC buyers prioritize. The gold exterior is a particularly strategic choice for the region, as it effectively reflects heat and remains one of the most stable colors for resale value in the local market. While the mileage reflects active use, this model is built specifically for high-stress environments, and its 4.8L VTC engine is famously over-engineered for longevity. Compared to modern crossovers, this is a true body-on-frame 4x4 that holds its value exceptionally well due to its cult status and rugged capability. For a buyer in the UAE or KSA, this represents a reliable, go-anywhere tool that is supported by a service network found in nearly every corner of the region.

This Car vs Other 2021 Patrols

With 200,000 km, this vehicle has been driven more than the average 2021 model, yet for a Patrol Super Safari, this is often considered just the beginning of its service life. The gold finish is a major advantage in the GCC, as it disguises desert dust well and helps maintain a cooler cabin temperature during summer months compared to darker hues. This specific regional spec ensures the cooling system and air conditioning are factory-tuned for 50°C+ temperatures.

SUPER SAFARI vs Lower Trims

The Super Safari trim adds significant premium features over the standard Safari, including a built-in electric winch and a factory-fitted rear pintle hook for recovery. Inside, you benefit from upgraded tan leather upholstery, a cooled center console for beverages, and distinctive 'Super Safari' exterior decals that command a premium at resale. It also features 17-inch dark grey alloy wheels and a more robust interior trim that feels notably more executive than the base workhorse versions.

Patrol vs Segment Rivals

The Patrol Super Safari is frequently cross-shopped with the Toyota Land Cruiser 70-series and the Jeep Wrangler. While the Jeep offers more modularity, the Patrol leads significantly in interior space and long-distance highway comfort for seven passengers. Compared to the 70-series Land Cruiser, the Super Safari provides a more refined cabin experience with better insulation and superior factory climate control for the rear rows.

Running Costs & Resale

The 4.8L engine is designed for durability rather than fuel economy, typically averaging around 17.2 L/100km in combined GCC driving conditions. Service intervals are generally every 5,000 to 10,000 km, and parts are readily available at competitive prices throughout the UAE and Saudi Arabia. This model enjoys some of the lowest depreciation rates in the region, often retaining 60-70% of its value after three years due to high demand in the enthusiast and desert-driving communities.

Performance & Capability

The 4.8-liter inline-6 engine delivers a smooth 280 hp, but its 451 Nm of torque is what makes it a master of the dunes and heavy towing. It features a genuine low-range transfer case and a rear differential lock, allowing it to navigate deep sand where most modern SUVs would struggle. With a 215 mm ground clearance and specialized approach angles, it is purpose-built for weekend expeditions to the Liwa Oasis or the Empty Quarter.

Comfort & Cabin

Inside, the Super Safari provides a cavernous 7-seat layout with dedicated rear AC vents that are essential for the GCC's harsh summers. The cabin is equipped with a factory refrigerator (cool box) to keep drinks chilled during long cross-country drives between emirates. The driver enjoys 8-way power-adjustable seating, providing a commanding view of the road that is both ergonomic and suited for long-distance desert touring.

Safety

Safety is focused on rugged reliability, featuring standard driver and passenger airbags along with an Anti-lock Braking System (ABS) for various surfaces. The heavy-duty body-on-frame construction provides a solid safety cell, while the inclusion of cruise control helps reduce driver fatigue on long highway stretches between GCC cities. It also features fog lamps and high-intensity halogen headlamps for improved visibility during dust storms or night driving in unlit desert areas.

The bottom line

Perfect for the enthusiast or family that values mechanical toughness over digital gadgets, this Super Safari is a desert-ready icon with a resale-friendly color and a legendary reputation. It is the ideal choice for someone who wants a vehicle that is as capable of a cross-border expedition as it is of the daily school run.
