Summary

This 2021 Toyota RAV4 offers a compelling balance for the UAE market, featuring the highly desirable White exterior that maximizes heat reflection and resale potential. With 79,000 km over 5 years, its mileage is significantly lower than the GCC average of 100,000+ km for this age, marking it as a well-preserved example. The XLE trim provides essential upgrades over the base model, including a power moonroof and dual-zone climate control, which are vital for local comfort. As one of the region's most trusted nameplates, it offers unmatched peace of mind through its legendary reliability and ease of maintenance. For a buyer seeking a dependable daily commuter that can handle weekend road trips between Emirates, this AWD crossover is a standout choice.

This Car vs Other 2021 RAV4s

At 79,000 km, this vehicle has been driven approximately 15,800 km per year, which is well below the typical 20,000–25,000 km annual average seen in the GCC. This lower-than-average usage translates to less wear on the mechanical components and interior surfaces compared to most 5-year-old examples currently on the market. The White exterior is the most preferred color in the region, ensuring better thermal management in summer and faster liquidity at resale.

XLE vs Lower Trims

The XLE trim significantly enhances the ownership experience over the base LE by adding a Smart Key System with Push Button Start and a power-adjustable driver’s seat. Crucially for the GCC climate, it introduces dual-zone automatic climate control, allowing individualized cooling, and integrated fog lights for improved visibility during seasonal dust storms. It also upgrades to 17-inch alloy wheels and adds Blind Spot Monitoring with Rear Cross-Traffic Alert, features often missing on entry-level imports.

RAV4 vs Segment Rivals

The RAV4 leads rivals like the Honda CR-V and Nissan X-Trail with its robust 8-speed automatic transmission, which offers a more direct mechanical feel than the CVTs found in competitors. Its All-Wheel Drive system includes dedicated Multi-Terrain Select modes (Mud & Sand, Rock & Dirt), providing superior traction on loose surfaces during desert excursions compared to more road-biased crossovers. Additionally, Toyota’s massive regional parts infrastructure ensures shorter downtimes for repairs than almost any other brand in the segment.

Running Costs & Resale

The 2.5L engine delivers a manufacturer-rated 8.4 L/100km combined, offering efficient performance for long-distance highway commutes across the UAE. Service intervals are typically every 10,000 km, and with the largest authorized service network in the GCC, maintenance is convenient in every major city from Dubai to Riyadh. The RAV4 is a global benchmark for value retention, typically depreciating at just 8-10% annually in the local market, making it one of the safest financial bets in the used SUV category.

Performance & Capability

With 203 horsepower delivered through a 2.5L four-cylinder engine, the RAV4 provides confident overtaking power for fast-moving UAE highways. The standard All-Wheel Drive system is paired with a stop-and-start engine system that helps conserve fuel during heavy stop-start traffic in downtown Dubai or Abu Dhabi. Its 8.1 inches of ground clearance and selectable terrain modes make it perfectly capable of navigating gravel tracks and sandy wadi approaches for weekend camping trips.

Comfort & Cabin

The cabin is designed for long-distance durability and comfort, featuring a power moonroof that adds an airy feel to the 5-seat interior. Canadian-spec models often include heated elements, which are surprisingly useful during cold desert winter nights, while the powerful dual-zone A/C remains the gold standard for cooling the cabin quickly after being parked in the sun. The cargo area is generous, providing ample space for family groceries or outdoor gear, further enhanced by the convenience of a power liftgate.

Safety

Equipped with Toyota Safety Sense 2.0, this vehicle includes a Pre-Collision System, Lane Departure Alert with Steering Assist, and Full-Speed Range Dynamic Radar Cruise Control, which is indispensable for relaxing on the long E11 highway drives. The XLE trim specifically includes Blind Spot Monitoring, providing an extra layer of safety when navigating multi-lane city traffic. A comprehensive suite of eight airbags and electronic stability control come standard, ensuring top-tier protection for all passengers.

The bottom line

For the pragmatist who values reliability above all else, this low-mileage 2021 RAV4 XLE is the perfect GCC companion, offering the ideal balance of trim features and long-term value retention.
