Summary

This 2021 Volkswagen ID.4 Crozz Pure Plus represents a smart entry point into high-range electric mobility within the UAE. As a PURE PLUS trim, it features the larger ternary lithium battery pack, offering significantly more range than the base Pure version, making it better suited for inter-city drives between Dubai and Abu Dhabi. While its mileage is higher than typical for its age, this reflects the highway-heavy driving patterns common for EVs in the region, where electric efficiency shines. The striking Red exterior is a vibrant alternative to the standard monochrome palette and holds its own in the local market. For the GCC buyer, this model offers German-engineered cabin refinement and modern tech at a highly competitive value.

This Car vs Other 2021 ID.4 Crozzs

At 140,000 km, this ID.4 has been driven more extensively than the average GCC used car, which typically sees 20,000–25,000 km annually. However, for a 2021 model, this mileage indicates a life spent largely on well-maintained highways rather than in stop-start urban congestion, which is mechanically favorable for an electric powertrain. The Red exterior is a bold, high-visibility choice that helps it stand out among the sea of white and silver SUVs in the UAE.

PURE PLUS vs Lower Trims

The PURE PLUS trim is a major step up from the standard Pure model, most notably upgrading the battery from a 55 kWh unit to the high-capacity 84.8 kWh pack. This added capacity provides the extra buffer needed for running the powerful air conditioning systems required during GCC summers without frequent charging stops. Additionally, the Pure Plus often includes larger alloy wheels and enhanced interior materials that give the cabin a more premium feel compared to the entry-level configurations.

ID.4 Crozz vs Segment Rivals

The ID.4 Crozz competes directly with the Tesla Model Y and the Hyundai IONIQ 5. It leads the segment in terms of traditional German build quality and intuitive physical proportions, offering a more familiar SUV feel for those transitioning from petrol vehicles. While rivals may offer more radical tech, the ID.4 provides a more balanced ride comfort specifically tuned for high-speed highway stability, a key advantage on the E11 and E311.

Running Costs & Resale

With no petrol costs and minimal maintenance requirements—no oil changes or spark plugs—running costs are exceptionally low in the UAE. While this is a Chinese-spec import, parts availability is strong through specialized independent distributors in Sharjah and Dubai who cater specifically to the high volume of ID-series cars in the region. Depreciation for imported EVs in the GCC is steeper than Japanese petrol SUVs, but the ID.4 remains the most recognizable and liquid electric model in the secondary market after Tesla.

Performance & Capability

The rear-mounted motor produces a verified 201 horsepower and 310 Nm of instant torque, allowing for smooth and responsive overtaking on fast-moving highways. Its rear-wheel-drive layout provides a surprisingly tight 10.2-meter turning circle, making it easier to maneuver in tight mall parking garages than most SUVs of its size. With a top speed of 160 km/h, it is perfectly geared for the UAE's highest speed limits while maintaining a composed and quiet cabin environment.

Comfort & Cabin

The cabin is designed for long-distance family comfort, featuring 512 litres of boot space that expands to 1,575 litres with the seats folded—ideal for weekend road trips or large grocery runs. The air conditioning system is robust, featuring dedicated rear vents to ensure all passengers remain cool during peak summer heat. The minimalist digital cockpit and 12-inch touchscreen provide a clean, modern workspace that feels significantly more advanced than older petrol-powered crossovers.

Safety

Safety is a hallmark of the MEB platform, featuring the VW IQ.Drive suite which includes Adaptive Cruise Control and Lane Assist—essential tools for reducing driver fatigue on long desert highway stretches. The vehicle is equipped with a comprehensive airbag system and stability control systems that manage the instant electric torque on various road surfaces. Its low center of gravity, due to the floor-mounted battery, provides excellent stability against crosswinds during high-speed driving.

The bottom line

This ID.4 Crozz Pure Plus is ideal for a tech-forward family looking for a premium German EV experience at a used-car price point. It offers the range and comfort needed for UAE life without the premium cost of a new agency purchase.
