Summary

This BMW X5 40i M Sport Exclusive offers a compelling balance of mileage and age, sitting right at the average for GCC highway-driven luxury SUVs. The White exterior is widely considered the most strategic choice for resale in the local market, ensuring it holds its value better than darker alternatives. As a dedicated executive crossover, it combines typical BMW agility with a refined cabin that outclasses more utilitarian rivals. For a buyer in the Emirates or across the GCC, this trim provides the exact suite of driver aids and cooling features necessary for navigating both fast-moving urban traffic and long desert commutes.

This Car vs Other 2022 X5s

With 76,000 km on the clock, this X5 has been driven roughly 25,000 km per year, which is the standard benchmark for professional commuters in the UAE and Saudi Arabia. While lower-mileage examples exist, they rarely offer the specific M Sport Exclusive equipment found here. The White exterior is a significant advantage in the GCC, as it reflects heat better and remains the most sought-after color in the secondary market.

40i M SPORT EXCLUSIVE vs Lower Trims

The Exclusive trim elevates the X5 experience by adding a standard 360° Surround View camera system and a Head-up Display, features often optional on the base xLine. You also benefit from the M Sport aerodynamic package and upgraded M Sport brakes, which provide superior stopping power during high-temperature highway driving. Inside, the M Sport steering wheel and premium leather upholstery offer a tactile upgrade that GCC buyers prioritize for long-distance comfort.

X5 vs Segment Rivals

Compared to the Mercedes-Benz GLE 450 and Audi Q7, the X5 leads with a more driver-centric chassis and a more intuitive iDrive infotainment system. Its 83-litre fuel tank is specifically suited for long-distance travel between Abu Dhabi and Muscat or Dubai and Riyadh, offering greater range than several competitors. While the Q7 offers more seats, the X5 provides superior mid-size cargo flexibility and a more engaging turbocharged inline-six engine.

Running Costs & Resale

Real-world fuel consumption for the 3.0L B58 engine typically ranges between 9.5 and 11.5 L/100km depending on GCC stop-start traffic and highway cruising. As a GCC-spec vehicle, it benefits from a comprehensive authorized service network across all major cities including Dubai, Abu Dhabi, and Riyadh, ensuring parts availability remains high. The X5 holds value strongly, typically retaining approximately 65-70% of its value after three years in the local market.

Performance & Capability

The X5 reaches 100 km/h in just 5.5 seconds, delivering confident overtaking power on fast-moving highways like the E11. With 340 hp and BMW’s xDrive all-wheel-drive system, it remains composed during heavy rain or across gravel surfaces leading to desert campsites. Multiple drive modes allow you to stiffen the suspension for mountain passes in Ras Al Khaimah or soften it for comfortable urban cruising.

Comfort & Cabin

The cabin is engineered for the heat, featuring a high-output air conditioning system and dedicated rear-seat climate vents to keep all passengers cool in 45°C summers. Superior acoustic glazing ensures a quiet environment, shielding occupants from highway wind noise during long cross-emirate trips. The digital cockpit and large central display provide seamless navigation, essential for navigating the ever-evolving road networks of the GCC.

Safety

This trim is equipped with BMW’s full Active Driving Assistant, including Blind Spot Detection and Lane Departure Warning, which are vital for safety on multi-lane GCC highways. Frontal Collision Warning and City Collision Mitigation provide an extra layer of protection in dense urban traffic. The 360° camera system makes parking this mid-size SUV effortless in tight mall parking structures, while multiple airbags and stability control ensure maximum passenger safety.

The bottom line

For the GCC buyer seeking a premium SUV that balances performance with high resale potential, this M Sport Exclusive X5 is the ideal choice. It offers the most desirable local specification and color in a package that is mechanically ready for the region's demanding driving conditions.
