Summary

This 2022 Chevrolet Blazer RS is a standout choice in the GCC market, offering a sharp, Camaro-inspired aesthetic that holds strong resale value in its Black-on-Black configuration. With 68,000 km, the mileage is slightly above the regional average for its age but suggests consistent highway use, which is ideal for the longevity of its robust V6 engine. As the performance-oriented RS trim, it bridges the gap between a practical family hauler and a sporty crossover, making it a compelling alternative to more conservative rivals. For a buyer in the UAE or wider GCC, this spec provides the necessary cooling and power to handle both high-speed cross-emirate commutes and extreme summer temperatures with ease.

This Car vs Other 2022 Blazers

While many 2022 models in the UAE are found with the 2.0L turbo engine, this example features the more desirable 3.6L V6, which is preferred locally for its durability and smoother power delivery. The 68,000 km mileage is average for a two-year-old vehicle in a region where long-distance driving is standard. The black exterior is a high-demand choice in the GCC used market, ensuring better liquidity when it comes time to resell.

RS vs Lower Trims

Choosing the RS trim adds significant upgrades over the 2LT and 3LT, most notably the advanced Twin-Clutch AWD system that improves handling on varied road surfaces. Inside, you get the RS-exclusive Jet Black perforated leather with red accents and the larger 8-inch digital driver information center. It also features a hands-free gesture liftgate and a more aggressive blacked-out exterior kit, including the signature RS grille and 20-inch wheels.

Blazer vs Segment Rivals

The Blazer RS competes directly with the Ford Edge and Nissan Murano but leads the segment in visual character with its aggressive sports-car styling. Its 308 hp output provides a more engaging drive than the Murano's CVT-based powertrain, and the 864-litre boot capacity offers superior practicality for family road trips. Additionally, the 9-speed automatic transmission is better suited for the fast-paced highway traffic common in Dubai and Riyadh compared to rivals using older 6-speed or CVT units.

Running Costs & Resale

Real-world fuel consumption for the 3.6L V6 averages around 10.8 L/100km in combined cycles, though GCC city traffic can see this rise to roughly 13.1 L/100km. Chevrolet maintains a massive authorized service network via Al Ghandi and Bin Hamoodah in the UAE, ensuring parts are affordable and readily available across all GCC states. The Blazer RS historically retains approximately 55-60% of its value after three years in the local market, benefiting from its high-spec status and regional popularity.

Performance & Capability

The naturally aspirated V6 delivers a verified 308 hp, allowing the Blazer to reach 100 km/h in a swift 6.8 seconds. This power is particularly useful for safe overtaking on 140 km/h highways like the E11, where mid-range torque is essential. The sophisticated All-Wheel Drive system includes selectable modes, including a 'Tour' mode that disconnects the rear axle to save fuel during long desert highway stretches.

Comfort & Cabin

The cabin is designed for the GCC climate, featuring a powerful dual-zone automatic climate control system and dedicated rear-seat vents to ensure all five passengers stay cool. Active noise cancellation makes for a quiet environment during long inter-city drives, while the sliding rear seats allow you to prioritize legroom or cargo space as needed. The interior layout is intuitive, utilizing physical dials for temperature control which are easy to operate even in bright sunlight.

Safety

Standard safety features on this RS trim include the Chevy Safety Assist suite, which provides Forward Collision Alert and Automatic Emergency Braking. For the high-speed multi-lane highways of the GCC, the standard Lane Change Alert with Side Blind Zone Alert and Rear Cross-Traffic Alert are invaluable tools. The vehicle also features a 360-degree HD Surround Vision camera, making parking in tight urban spaces significantly safer and easier.

The bottom line

For the buyer who wants a practical SUV that doesn't look like one, this GCC-spec Blazer RS offers the perfect mix of performance and regional suitability. It is an excellent opportunity to own a high-trim V6 crossover that is ready for both the daily commute and weekend road trips.
