Summary

This GCC-spec Traverse Premier is a highly capable family workhorse that bridges the gap between mid-size efficiency and full-size utility. With its black exterior offering strong resale appeal in the regional market, this trim provides a luxury-tier cabin experience that stands up to the intense Gulf summers. The V6 engine is perfectly suited for the long highway stretches between emirates, offering a refined and quiet ride even at high speeds. For a family seeking seven-seat versatility without the bulk of a truck-based SUV, this is a meticulously balanced choice that maintains a premium presence on the road.

This Car vs Other 2022 Traverses

With 114,185 km on the odometer, this Traverse has been driven approximately 38,000 km per year, which is above the typical GCC annual average but reflects the vehicle's role as a dedicated long-distance highway cruiser. The Mosaic Black Metallic finish is one of the most sought-after colors for resale in the UAE and wider Gulf, ensuring it holds its value better than more niche colors. As a GCC-spec model, it features the cooling systems and radio frequencies optimized for regional use, providing a significant reliability advantage over imported American-spec alternatives.

PREMIER vs Lower Trims

The Premier trim significantly upgrades the Traverse experience with essential GCC features like ventilated front seats and a hands-free power liftgate with emblem projection. While lower trims like the LT make do with basic tech, the Premier adds a 360-degree HD Surround Vision camera and the larger 8-inch digital driver information center, making parking this large SUV much easier. You also get the premium Bose 10-speaker audio system and memory settings for the driver’s seat, steering wheel, and mirrors, which are rarely found on the volume-seller trims.

Traverse vs Segment Rivals

The Traverse leads rivals like the Toyota Highlander and Honda Pilot in outright cargo volume, offering one of the largest boots in the mid-size segment even with the third row in use. Its 82-litre fuel tank is specifically advantageous for long-distance desert highway drives, requiring fewer stops than smaller-tank competitors. Furthermore, the 3.6L V6 offers a more traditional, linear power delivery that many GCC drivers prefer for overtaking compared to the turbocharged four-cylinders found in newer rivals.

Running Costs & Resale

Real-world fuel consumption for this AWD V6 typically averages around 11.8 L/100km, performing best on steady highway drives where the 9-speed automatic can optimize efficiency. Chevrolet’s extensive authorized service network across the UAE and Saudi Arabia ensures that maintenance is straightforward and parts are readily available. The Traverse historically retains about 60% of its value after three years in the GCC market, making it a stable asset compared to some European luxury SUVs in the same price bracket.

Performance & Capability

The 301 horsepower V6 provides confident acceleration, reaching 0-100 km/h in approximately 7.5 seconds, which is impressive for a vehicle of this size. When equipped with the standard trailering package on the Premier trim, it can tow up to 2,268 kg, making it ideal for hauling jet skis or a small boat for weekend trips to the coast. The All-Wheel Drive system features a driver-selectable mode dial, allowing you to switch between FWD for city efficiency and AWD for better traction on gravel or rain-slicked roads.

Comfort & Cabin

The cabin is configured with second-row captain's chairs, providing a premium 'business class' feel and easier access to the third row. In the GCC heat, the tri-zone automatic climate control and standard ventilated seats are indispensable, while the active noise cancellation creates a hushed environment even at 120 km/h. Perforated leather seating and heated second-row outboard seats ensure all passengers travel in comfort regardless of the season.

Safety

Safety is a priority with the standard Chevy Safety Assist suite, which includes Forward Collision Alert and Automatic Emergency Braking. The Premier trim further enhances protection for GCC highway driving with Lane Change Alert, Side Blind Zone Alert, and a Safety Alert Seat that vibrates to warn the driver of potential hazards. The 360-degree camera system is particularly useful in tight urban parking scenarios common in Dubai and Riyadh, providing a top-down view to avoid low-level obstacles.

The bottom line

This Traverse Premier is the ideal choice for a growing family that needs maximum space and luxury-trim features without the premium price tag of a brand-new model. Its GCC specification and black-on-black aesthetic make it a high-demand listing in the current regional market.
