Summary

This 2022 Ford F-150 Lightning Lariat Extended Range offers a unique opportunity to own a nearly new electric truck with exceptionally low mileage for the GCC market. Finished in classic Black—a high-demand resale color across the UAE and Saudi Arabia—it delivers a massive 580 hp and a range that comfortably handles commutes between Dubai and Abu Dhabi. As a Lariat trim, it bridges the gap between a rugged workhorse and a luxury cruiser, featuring a massive digital interface and high-end cabin materials. For the GCC buyer, the standard Pro Power Onboard system transforms the truck into a mobile power station, perfect for desert camping or outdoor events.

This Car vs Other 2022 F-150 Lightnings

With only 2,257 km on the odometer, this Lightning has seen significantly less use than the average 2022 model in the GCC, which typically covers 20,000 km annually. The Black exterior is one of the most resilient colors for resale value in the local market. While this is an American spec vehicle, it features the highly desirable Extended Range battery which is less common than standard range imports.

LARIAT EXTENDED vs Lower Trims

The Lariat trim significantly upgrades the ownership experience over the XLT by adding ventilated leather seats—a necessity for the GCC summer—and a larger 15.5-inch portrait touchscreen. It also standardizes the 9.6 kW Pro Power Onboard system and includes a premium B&O audio system. The Extended Range package specifically increases the battery capacity to 131 kWh, providing the extra headroom needed for long highway drives between Emirates.

F-150 Lightning vs Segment Rivals

Compared to the Rivian R1T, the F-150 Lightning offers a much more familiar and spacious full-size truck cabin that GCC drivers have trusted for decades. It leads the segment in onboard power utility with more accessible 240V and 120V outlets than the GMC Hummer EV. The Lightning’s massive 400-litre 'Mega Power Frunk' provides secure, cooled storage space that traditional petrol trucks and many EV rivals cannot match.

Running Costs & Resale

Electric running costs in the UAE are significantly lower than petrol equivalents, especially with the growing DEWA and ADDC charging infrastructure. While this is an American spec vehicle, Ford’s extensive authorized service network across the UAE and wider GCC ensures that most mechanical and body components are readily available, though EV-specific warranty terms should be verified locally. Historically, the F-150 nameplate maintains strong value retention, though American spec EVs typically depreciate slightly faster than GCC-spec petrol models.

Performance & Capability

The F-150 Lightning Lariat Extended Range produces a staggering 1,050 Nm of near-instant torque, allowing it to reach 100 km/h in just 4.5 seconds. Its four-wheel-drive system features dedicated modes for Tow/Haul and Off-Road, making it capable for light desert excursions and heavy-duty tasks. With the Max Trailer Tow package, it can pull up to 4,535 kg, making it a viable electric alternative for hauling boats or trailers.

Comfort & Cabin

The interior is tailored for the heat, featuring standard ventilated and heated leather front seats and a powerful dual-zone climate control system. The flat rear floor provides class-leading legroom for three adult passengers, while the 15.5-inch SYNC 4A interface offers seamless wireless connectivity. Acoustic glass ensures the cabin remains remarkably quiet, even at highway speeds on the E11.

Safety

Safety is managed by the Ford Co-Pilot360 2.0 suite, which includes pre-collision assist with automatic emergency braking, blind-spot monitoring, and a 360-degree camera system for navigating tight urban parking. Adaptive cruise control and lane-keeping assist are particularly effective for reducing fatigue during long desert highway stretches. The low center of gravity provided by the floor-mounted battery pack also enhances stability compared to traditional high-riding pickups.

The bottom line

This is a rare, low-mileage example of the world's most recognizable truck transformed for the electric era, offering the perfect blend of Lariat luxury and Extended Range practicality for the modern UAE lifestyle.
