Summary

This 2022 Grand Cherokee Overland represents a compelling entry into Jeep's latest generation, featuring the redesigned body style and significantly upgraded cabin technology. With 73,000 km, the mileage is well within the expected range for a two-year-old SUV in the GCC, where long-distance highway commutes are the norm. The Overland trim is a sweet spot for resale, offering premium features like air suspension and a panoramic sunroof that buyers in this segment specifically target. Finished in White, it occupies the most desirable resale color bracket for the UAE market, ensuring strong liquidity when it comes time to upgrade. For the GCC buyer, this model offers the perfect balance between executive road presence and genuine weekend capability.

This Car vs Other 2022 Grand Cherokees

With 73,000 km on the odometer, this vehicle has been driven approximately 36,000 km per year, which is typical for a primary family vehicle in the GCC where inter-emirate travel is frequent. Being the first year of the WL-generation redesign, it holds a significant visual and technological advantage over the older WK2 models often found at this price point. The exterior White paint is the highest-performing color for heat reflection and resale value across the Emirates and Saudi Arabia.

Overland vs Lower Trims

The Overland trim is a major step up from the Laredo and Limited, most notably adding the Quadra-Lift air suspension which allows for adjustable ride height—perfect for clearing speed bumps in the city or sand on the weekend. Inside, it gains the dual-pane panoramic sunroof and ventilated front seats, a critical feature for maintaining comfort during the peak GCC summer months. It also features a superior Uconnect 5 system with a larger 10.1-inch display compared to the base units.

Grand Cherokee vs Segment Rivals

Compared to the Toyota Prado or Ford Explorer, the Grand Cherokee Overland offers a more refined, car-like unibody ride quality while maintaining a superior 87-litre fuel tank for long desert highway stretches. Its tech suite, including the digital cluster and premium interior materials, leads the segment for this model year. The 3.6L Pentastar V6 remains one of the most reliable and widely serviced powertrains in the region.

Running Costs & Resale

The 3.6L V6 is designed for longevity and is compatible with standard regional fuel grades, averaging roughly 11.3 L/100km in combined GCC driving conditions. Jeep maintains an extensive authorized service network across the UAE, Saudi Arabia, and Oman, ensuring parts availability is consistent. As the flagship non-Summit trim, the Overland retains its value better than entry-level specs, typically depreciating at a rate of 12-15% annually in the local market.

Performance & Capability

Powered by the proven 293 hp Pentastar V6, this SUV handles highway overtaking with ease, paired with a smooth 8-speed automatic transmission. The Quadra-Trac II 4WD system includes a two-speed transfer case with low range, providing genuine capability for light desert excursions or rocky wadi drives. With a maximum towing capacity of 2,812 kg, it is fully equipped for hauling jet skis or small trailers for weekend getaways.

Comfort & Cabin

The 5-seat cabin is focused on passenger refinement, featuring Nappa leather-trimmed seating and a high-performance air conditioning system designed for extreme heat. Acoustic glass and enhanced insulation provide a quiet environment, shielding passengers from road noise during long cruises between Dubai and Abu Dhabi. The 1,067-litre boot space is generous enough for large family shopping trips or camping gear.

Safety

This trim comes equipped with a comprehensive ADAS suite including Adaptive Cruise Control with Stop and Go, which is invaluable on the UAE's multi-lane highways. Additional standard safety features include Full-Speed Forward Collision Warning, Blind Spot Monitoring, and Lane Keep Assist to help navigate fast-moving traffic. The 360-degree camera system and ParkSense sensors make maneuvering this mid-size SUV in tight city parking structures effortless.

The bottom line

A perfect choice for the UAE professional or family seeking a modern, high-spec SUV that looks current and performs reliably across both city and sand.
