Summary

This two-year-old Grand Cherokee presents a compelling case for the GCC buyer, combining Jeep's legendary off-road heritage with a sophisticated blacked-out aesthetic. The black exterior is one of the most requested colors in the UAE used market, ensuring strong resale liquidity when it's time to upgrade. Positioned as a versatile family SUV, it bridges the gap between rugged capability and urban refinement better than almost any rival in its class. With its robust V6 powertrain and modern safety tech, it is perfectly suited for the high-speed highway commutes and weekend adventures typical of the region.

This Car vs Other 2024 Grand Cherokees

With 60,671 km on the odometer, this vehicle has been driven approximately 30,000 km per year, which is slightly above the typical GCC average of 20,000–25,000 km. However, in a market where highway-heavy driving is the norm, this mileage often represents stable long-distance cruising between emirates rather than taxing city idle time. The black exterior is a high-demand resale color in the UAE, providing a significant advantage over niche colors when you decide to sell.

Altitude vs Lower Trims

The Altitude trim is a significant step up from the base Laredo, adding the 'blacked-out' appearance package that is highly coveted in the GCC. Beyond the 18-inch gloss black wheels and accents, it adds essential comfort features for the local climate, including a remote start system to pre-cool the cabin and a power liftgate for convenience. You also benefit from upgraded leatherette seats with suede inserts, providing a more premium feel than the standard cloth found in lower trims.

Grand Cherokee vs Segment Rivals

When compared to rivals like the Ford Explorer or Toyota Prado, the Grand Cherokee leads with its unibody construction that offers a more refined, car-like ride on UAE highways without sacrificing trail capability. Its 87-litre fuel tank provides a superior cruising range for long desert stretches or cross-border trips to Oman. Additionally, Jeep's Uconnect system is widely regarded as one of the most intuitive interfaces in the segment, making it a favorite for tech-conscious families.

Running Costs & Resale

The 3.6L Pentastar V6 is one of the most proven engines in the Middle East, known for its ability to handle extreme summer heat and low maintenance requirements. Real-world fuel consumption averages around 11 L/100km, making it a balanced choice for a vehicle of this size. Jeep maintains a vast authorized service network across the UAE, Saudi Arabia, and Kuwait, ensuring parts are readily available. Historically, GCC-spec Grand Cherokees retain roughly 55-60% of their value after three years, outperforming several European luxury SUV competitors.

Performance & Capability

The 290 hp V6 delivers smooth, linear power that is ideal for overtaking on fast-moving highways like E11. While it excels on the road, the standard All-Wheel Drive system ensures you have the traction needed for gravel tracks and light sand during weekend escapes. It boasts a verified 2,812 kg towing capacity, allowing you to easily haul jet skis or a small trailer for outdoor activities. The 8-speed automatic transmission is tuned for efficiency, keeping RPMs low during long-distance cruising to maximize comfort.

Comfort & Cabin

Inside, the cabin is designed to be a sanctuary from the Gulf's harsh summer, featuring a powerful dual-zone climate control system and dedicated rear vents to keep all passengers cool. The Altitude's suede-insert seats stay cooler than full leather when parked in the sun, a subtle but vital benefit in this region. Technologically, the cabin is well-equipped with a wireless charging pad and full smartphone integration. Acoustic windshield glass helps isolate the interior from road and wind noise during high-speed travel.

Safety

This trim comes equipped with a comprehensive suite of safety technologies essential for GCC driving conditions. Adaptive Cruise Control and Lane Keeping Assist are invaluable for reducing fatigue on long desert highways, while Blind-Spot Monitoring provides extra security in fast-moving, multi-lane city traffic. The vehicle also features Forward Collision Warning with Active Braking and a ParkView rear backup camera with ParkSense, ensuring safety during both high-speed travel and tight urban parking maneuvers.

The bottom line

For the buyer who wants a modern, blacked-out SUV that looks as good at a Dubai mall as it does on a mountain road in Hatta, this GCC-spec Altitude is a smart, market-ready choice.
