Summary

This 2022 Grand Cherokee L Limited is a compelling find in the GCC market, offering the extended three-row configuration in the highly desirable black-on-black color scheme which historically maintains strong resale value across the Emirates. With mileage sitting right at the expected average for a three-year-old family SUV in this region, it represents a well-maintained example of Jeep’s modern luxury pivot. The Limited trim strikes the perfect balance for local buyers, providing essential cooling features like ventilated seats and leather upholstery without the steep depreciation of the top-tier Summit models. Compared to European rivals, this model offers significantly more ruggedness for weekend desert escapes while serving as a sophisticated daily driver for large families. For a GCC owner, the combination of a massive fuel tank for cross-country drives and a proven naturally aspirated V6 makes this a practical, long-term family investment.

This Car vs Other 2022 Grand Cherokee Ls

With approximately 90,300 km on the clock, this vehicle sits within the typical usage band of 25,000–30,000 km per year common for family SUVs in the GCC. The black exterior is a high-demand choice in the local used market, ensuring faster liquidity and better price retention than more niche colors. Being a GCC-spec model, it benefits from a cooling system and air conditioning unit specifically tuned to handle the 45°C+ summer peaks of the Arabian Peninsula.

LIMITED vs Lower Trims

The Limited trim is a significant step up from the base Laredo, adding the premium Capri leather-trimmed interior and power-operated liftgate that GCC buyers prioritize. Crucially for the local climate, it introduces ventilated front seats and heated seats for all rows, alongside an upgraded 10.1-inch Uconnect touchscreen with integrated navigation. It also features the Selec-Terrain system, allowing drivers to optimize the 4WD system for sand or gravel at the turn of a dial.

Grand Cherokee L vs Segment Rivals

The Grand Cherokee L competes directly with the Ford Explorer and Toyota Highlander, leading with a more premium, near-luxury cabin feel and superior off-road heritage. Its 104-litre fuel tank is one of the largest in its class, providing superior range for long highway stretches between cities like Dubai and Muscat or Riyadh and Dammam. While rivals often feel more like minivans, the Jeep maintains a rugged stance and a genuine 2,812 kg towing capacity for those hauling boats or trailers.

Running Costs & Resale

The 3.6L Pentastar V6 is a staple of the region, known for its reliability and the widespread availability of parts from authorized centers across the UAE, KSA, and Kuwait. Real-world fuel consumption typically averages around 11-13 L/100km, with the large fuel tank minimizing stops on long desert hauls. Jeep models in Limited trim tend to follow a stable depreciation curve of roughly 12-15% annually in the GCC, performing better than most European competitors due to the strong local service network.

Performance & Capability

The 290 hp V6 delivers smooth, linear power ideal for highway overtaking and confident cruising. Its All-Wheel Drive system is paired with the Selec-Terrain management platform, making it more than capable of handling soft sand and wadi tracks during weekend family adventures. With 215 mm of ground clearance, it manages speed bumps and uneven terrain with ease while maintaining a car-like monocoque refinement on the road.

Comfort & Cabin

This seven-seat configuration is designed for the modern GCC family, featuring dedicated climate control vents for all three rows to ensure rapid cooling in peak summer. The interior is insulated with acoustic glass to keep the cabin quiet during high-speed highway travel, and the 1,328 litres of cargo space behind the second row easily accommodates large grocery hauls or luggage. High-quality leather and ambient LED lighting create an executive atmosphere for both the driver and passengers.

Safety

Standard safety equipment on the Limited trim is comprehensive, featuring Full-Speed Forward Collision Warning with Active Braking and a 360-degree camera system for easy parking in tight city spaces. Blind-spot monitoring and Rear Cross Path detection are particularly valuable for the multi-lane highway driving common in the GCC. The inclusion of Adaptive Cruise Control with Stop and Go makes long-distance travel across the emirates significantly less taxing for the driver.

The bottom line

This is the ideal choice for a buyer looking for a prestige three-row SUV that doesn't compromise on GCC-specific reliability or resale potential. It offers the luxury of a flagship model with the mechanical simplicity required for long-term ownership in the region.
