Summary

This 2022 Kia Seltos LX is a smart choice for GCC buyers looking for a dependable crossover that balances modern styling with manageable running costs. While the mileage reflects active use over its four-year life, Kia's robust engineering and wide service coverage across the UAE and wider region ensure long-term peace of mind. The Grey exterior is a versatile, professional choice that holds its appeal well in the local resale market. As a GCC-spec vehicle, it is purpose-built to handle extreme summer temperatures with a cooling system designed for the desert climate. For those prioritizing a practical daily driver that won't break the bank at the pump, this Seltos stands out as a high-value contender.

This Car vs Other 2022 Seltos s

With 106,000 km over four years, this vehicle has seen steady use that aligns with the higher-than-average annual mileage common for highway commuters in the GCC. While many listings show lower numbers, this Seltos benefits from being a GCC-spec model, which ensures it has been maintained to local standards and is compatible with regional authorized service centers. The Grey paintwork is a neutral, sought-after shade that avoids the faster depreciation seen in more niche colors.

LX vs Lower Trims

As the foundational trim, the LX focuses on core value while providing essential technology like an 8-inch touchscreen with smartphone integration. It includes 16-inch wheels and a digital cluster that gives the cabin a modern feel compared to older entry-level crossovers. While higher trims add luxury accents, the LX is preferred by pragmatic buyers for its lower long-term maintenance costs and straightforward mechanical layout.

Seltos vs Segment Rivals

The Seltos leads competitors like the Hyundai Creta and MG ZS with its distinct styling and superior cargo versatility, offering a generous 433-liter boot. In the GCC, it is often chosen over rivals due to the strength of Kia's regional parts availability and the widespread availability of specialized technicians. Its 1.6-liter engine provides a reliable balance of power for city traffic and efficiency for the daily Sharjah-Dubai or Abu Dhabi commute.

Running Costs & Resale

Fuel consumption is efficient for the segment, averaging roughly 6.0 L/100km on the highway, making it an excellent choice for long-distance drivers. Kia enjoys one of the strongest service networks in the UAE, Saudi Arabia, and Oman, with standard service intervals every 10,000 km. The Seltos historically retains its value well, with 3-year residual values often exceeding 65% in the GCC market, performing significantly better than many European or newer Chinese alternatives.

Performance & Capability

The 1.6-liter engine delivers a smooth 123 hp, optimized for fuel economy and steady highway cruising rather than raw acceleration. Its front-wheel-drive setup is perfectly suited for urban environments and well-paved UAE highways, providing a predictable and comfortable ride. While not intended for heavy off-roading, the ground clearance is sufficient for navigating gravel tracks and sandy patches during weekend family outings to the park or beach.

Comfort & Cabin

Inside, the Seltos offers a surprisingly spacious cabin for a sub-compact crossover, featuring a 60:40 split-folding rear seat for flexible cargo loading. The air conditioning is specifically tuned for GCC summers, ensuring rapid cabin cooling even when outside temperatures exceed 45°C. Practical touches like multiple USB charging ports and a clear infotainment interface make it a comfortable environment for both the driver and small families.

Safety

Standard safety features on this trim include multiple airbags, Electronic Stability Control (ESC), and Hill-start Assist Control (HAC), which is particularly useful in multi-story parking structures. The vehicle's high seating position provides excellent visibility for navigating fast-moving highway traffic. Kia's commitment to safety in the GCC is backed by a reinforced body structure designed to provide consistent protection across diverse road conditions.

The bottom line

This GCC-spec Seltos LX is the ideal match for a budget-conscious professional or small family needing a reliable, efficient crossover with the backing of a massive regional service network.
