Summary

This 2023 Kia Seltos LX offers a practical entry point into the popular subcompact SUV segment, finished in a high-resale White that is ideal for the GCC climate. With 62,000 km, its mileage reflects a standard commute in the region, while the GCC regional specification ensures the cooling systems and powertrain are built to handle extreme summer temperatures. As a value-led crossover, the Seltos stands out for its clever interior packaging, offering more legroom and cargo flexibility than many of its direct rivals. For the GCC buyer, this remains a top-tier choice for its balance of modern styling, low maintenance costs, and the peace of mind provided by a massive regional service network.

This Car vs Other 2023 Seltos

With 62,000 km on the odometer, this Seltos sits right at the expected average for a 2023 model in the GCC, where annual driving typically reaches 25,000 km. The white exterior is the most sought-after color in the local used market, ensuring faster resale and better heat reflection during the summer months. Its GCC spec status is a significant advantage, maintaining full compatibility with local service centers and regional fuel grades.

LX vs Lower Trims

As the foundational trim, the LX focuses on providing essential SUV utility without the complexity of higher-tier electronics. It includes standard smartphone integration through Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, ensuring modern connectivity is always available. Unlike some basic fleet-spec variants, the LX maintains the signature bold LED styling and a high-quality cabin finish that Kia is known for in the region.

Seltos vs Segment Rivals

The Seltos competes directly with the Hyundai Creta and Nissan Kicks, leading the segment with a more aggressive, upright SUV stance and superior boot capacity of 433 litres. While the Kicks focuses on urban efficiency, the Seltos offers a more substantial road presence and better cabin insulation for high-speed highway travel between Emirates. Its 2,610 mm wheelbase provides a stability on the road that rivals often struggle to match in windy desert conditions.

Running Costs & Resale

Running costs are exceptionally manageable, with the 1.6-litre engine optimized for standard 91 or 95 octane fuel available across the GCC. Service intervals are typically every 10,000 km, and Kia’s widespread presence in the UAE, Saudi Arabia, and Oman makes parts both affordable and readily available. The Seltos enjoys strong value retention, typically depreciating slower than European competitors in the same price bracket.

Performance & Capability

The 1.6-litre 4-cylinder engine produces a reliable 123 hp, providing a smooth and predictable driving experience through the 6-speed automatic transmission. While designed for urban and highway use, the 190 mm ground clearance allows it to navigate gravel tracks and high speed bumps with ease. It is particularly well-suited for the stop-start traffic of Dubai or Riyadh, offering light steering and excellent visibility.

Comfort & Cabin

Inside, the Seltos LX offers a surprisingly roomy environment for five adults, featuring 60:40 split-folding rear seats to expand the 433-litre cargo area. The air conditioning system is specifically tuned for the GCC, providing rapid cooling even when the vehicle has been parked in direct sunlight. Rear air vents are standard, ensuring all passengers remain comfortable during long cross-country drives.

Safety

Standard safety equipment includes Electronic Stability Control and Hill-Start Assist, which are vital for maintaining traction on sandy road shoulders. The vehicle is equipped with multiple airbags and ABS, earning high marks in international safety assessments. The high-sitting driving position provides an excellent vantage point, helping the driver stay aware of fast-moving highway traffic.

The bottom line

Perfect for small families or young professionals, this GCC-spec Seltos LX combines sensible mileage with the region's best resale color and a rock-solid reliability record.
