Summary

This 2022 Nissan Altima SPORT offers a compelling blend of modern styling and proven reliability, making it one of the most practical choices in the mid-size sedan market. While the mileage reflects a car that has spent significant time on the highway, these engines are engineered specifically for long-distance durability, which is a major advantage for buyers across the GCC. The silver exterior is not just aesthetically pleasing; it is one of the highest-retaining resale colors in the region and handles the intense local sunlight better than darker shades. Choosing the SPORT trim ensures a more engaging aesthetic and enhanced interior features that distinguish it from the standard rental-fleet models often seen on the road. This model stands out for its exceptional fuel efficiency and high safety ratings, providing peace of mind for daily commuters. For a GCC buyer, the most important consideration is the vast availability of parts and expertise, ensuring that maintenance remains affordable and straightforward for years to come.

This Car vs Other 2022 Altima s

When comparing this specific vehicle to other 2022 Altima s in the local market, the mileage of 130,242 km indicates it has been utilized for consistent long-range travel, which often results in less wear on the transmission and brakes compared to stop-start city driving. In the GCC, where the average annual mileage frequently hits 25,000 km, this car sits slightly above the average but remains within a very acceptable range for a modern Japanese powertrain. The silver paint is a significant asset here, as it is highly sought after in the used market for its ability to hide dust and maintain its luster under the harsh UV conditions of the UAE and Saudi Arabia. While many 2022 models are base-spec imports, this SPORT trim offers a more premium feel that maintains its value better over time. Buyers will find that this car offers a more complete featureset than the typical entry-level versions found in most listings.

SPORT vs Lower Trims

Stepping up to the SPORT trim provides several key upgrades that GCC buyers value for both comfort and aesthetics. Visually, the SPORT trim introduces a more aggressive dark chrome V-Motion grille and unique 19-inch alloy wheels that give the sedan a much more commanding presence on the road. Inside, the cabin is upgraded with sport-specific seat upholstery and unique stitching that creates a more premium environment compared to the standard cloth found in the S or SV trims. Drivers also benefit from a leather-wrapped steering wheel and paddle shifters, offering a more tactile and engaging driving experience during highway overtakes. Additionally, this trim often includes more robust infotainment features and carbon-fiber look trim pieces that elevate the interior beyond the basic fleet-car feel. These enhancements are highly desirable in the secondary market, ensuring the car remains attractive to private buyers rather than just commercial operators.

Altima vs Segment Rivals

The Altima competes directly with the Toyota Camry and Honda Accord, two of the most popular vehicles in the Middle East. While the Camry is known for its ubiquity, the Altima often leads in terms of seat comfort thanks to its NASA-inspired Zero Gravity seats, which are a blessing on long drives between Dubai and Muscat. Its fuel tank size is optimized for the region, allowing for extensive range on a single fill-up, which is ideal for cross-emirate commuting. The Nissan also features a highly advanced Xtronic CVT that is tuned for smooth power delivery, often feeling more refined during highway cruising than some of its segment rivals. Furthermore, the Altima's air conditioning system is widely regarded as one of the most powerful in its class, a critical factor for maintaining cabin comfort during the peak of the GCC summer. This combination of comfort, cooling performance, and efficiency makes it a top-tier contender for any serious sedan buyer.

Running Costs & Resale

Owning a Nissan in the GCC is a masterclass in cost-effective motoring. Real-world fuel consumption for the 2.5L engine is impressive, averaging around 6.3 L/100km on the highway and roughly 8.5 L/100km in the heavy traffic of Riyadh or Dubai. The vehicle runs perfectly on standard 91 or 95 octane petrol, which is readily available at every station across the region. Maintenance is notably affordable, with authorized service centers located in virtually every major city from Kuwait to Salalah, ensuring that parts are never more than a few hours away. Nissan vehicles traditionally experience some of the lowest depreciation rates in the class, typically losing only 8-10% of their value annually, which is significantly better than European competitors. Even at the three-year mark, an Altima in good condition remains a highly liquid asset in the used market. This American-spec model offers great value, though buyers should note that local service contracts may differ from GCC-spec versions.

Performance & Capability

The 2.5L four-cylinder engine produces a reliable 182 hp, which provides ample power for navigating the fast-moving multi-lane highways of the UAE. The 0-100 km/h sprint is achieved in approximately 8 seconds, offering enough punch for confident merging into 140 km/h traffic zones. The Front Wheel Drive layout is perfectly suited for the paved surfaces of the region, providing predictable handling and stability in both dry heat and rare rain events. While not an off-road vehicle, the Altima offers a comfortable ground clearance that manages speed bumps and urban inclines with ease. The suspension is tuned for a balance between sportiness and comfort, absorbing road imperfections effectively to ensure a quiet cabin. This performance profile is designed for the driver who prioritizes a smooth, effortless journey over long distances. It is a car that feels just as at home in tight city streets as it does on a five-hour desert crossing.

Comfort & Cabin

Inside, the Altima offers a spacious 5-seat configuration with plenty of legroom for both front and rear passengers, making it an excellent choice for families. The air conditioning system is a standout feature, with powerful vents that can cool the cabin in minutes even after the car has been parked in 45°C heat. The SPORT trim’s cabin is well-insulated, significantly reducing road and wind noise during high-speed travel, which enhances the overall luxury feel. Tech-wise, the infotainment system is intuitive and supports modern smartphone integration, allowing for seamless navigation and media control. The boot space is among the best in the sedan segment, easily accommodating large suitcases or a full week's grocery haul. Every touchpoint in the SPORT trim feels purposeful and durable, designed to withstand the wear and tear of daily use while maintaining a stylish look. It is a cabin designed for those who spend significant time behind the wheel and demand a fatigue-free environment.

Safety

Safety is a hallmark of the 2022 Altima, which carries a 5-Star NCAP safety rating. The SPORT trim comes standard with an impressive suite of driver-assistance technologies, including Forward Collision Warning and Automatic Emergency Braking with Pedestrian Detection. For GCC drivers, the Blind Spot Warning and Rear Cross Traffic Alert are invaluable when navigating busy highways or crowded mall parking lots. The vehicle also features Lane Departure Warning to help keep drivers focused during long, monotonous desert drives. Unlike many rivals where these features are expensive optional extras, Nissan has prioritized making this tech accessible. A comprehensive airbag system and a reinforced chassis provide high levels of protection for all occupants. This focus on safety ensures that whether you are commuting within the city or traveling across borders, you are protected by some of the best technology in the industry.

The bottom line

This 2022 Nissan Altima SPORT is an ideal match for the daily commuter who values a sharp look combined with the low running costs and high resale value that Nissan is famous for in the GCC. It represents a smart opportunity to own a modern, tech-loaded sedan that is mechanically proven for our regional environment at a very competitive entry point.
