Summary

This 2022 Patrol offers a balanced entry into the region's most iconic SUV lineage, featuring the efficient V6 powertrain without sacrificing the high-end luxury of the Platinum City trim. The white exterior remains the most sought-after color for resale in the GCC, ensuring strong value retention when it's time to upgrade. While the mileage is slightly above the regional average for its age, these vehicles are engineered for the high-intensity highway use typical of the Emirates and Saudi Arabia. As an SE Platinum City, you get the premium aesthetics of the 'City' bumper and 20-inch wheels normally reserved for top-tier V8 models. For the local buyer, this represents a smart compromise between daily running costs and the presence of a flagship luxury 4x4.

This Car vs Other 2022 Patrols

With 116,000 km, this vehicle has been used as a primary commuter, which is common for GCC-based SUVs that often cover long distances between cities like Dubai and Abu Dhabi. The white paint is the top-performing color in the local used market, reflecting heat more effectively and holding higher residual value than darker shades. It offers a significant price advantage over the LE V8 models while maintaining the exact same luxury interior cabin.

SE PLATINUM CITY vs Lower Trims

The Platinum City trim is a major step up from the SE Titanium, adding quilted leather seats with integrated heating and ventilation for the front occupants—a vital feature for the Gulf summer. It also introduces the 360-degree Intelligent Around View Monitor and the specific 'City' front bumper design for a more sophisticated urban look. Unlike the base XE or SE T2, this trim includes a premium Bose 13-speaker audio system and power-folding third-row seats for ultimate convenience.

Patrol vs Segment Rivals

Compared to the Toyota Land Cruiser 300, the Patrol is often praised for its superior on-road ride comfort and a more spacious second and third row, making it a favorite for large families. It features a massive 140-litre fuel tank, providing significantly more range for long desert highway hauls than the Ford Expedition or GMC Yukon. The V6 powertrain offers a more accessible entry point into the full-size SUV segment while retaining the heavy-duty off-road hardware its rivals often charge extra for.

Running Costs & Resale

Real-world fuel consumption for the 4.0L V6 typically averages around 11.8 L/100km on the highway, though GCC stop-start traffic can increase this to approximately 15-16 L/100km. Service intervals are recommended every 10,000 km, and Nissan boasts one of the most comprehensive authorized service networks across the UAE, Saudi Arabia, and Oman. The Patrol holds some of the highest resale values in the region, typically only slightly behind the Land Cruiser, making it a safe long-term financial bet.

Performance & Capability

The 275 hp V6 engine is paired with a smooth 7-speed automatic transmission, delivering steady power for highway overtaking and sand driving. With a 244 mm ground clearance and a dedicated low-range transfer case, it is fully capable of weekend desert excursions and wadi drives. The All-Wheel Drive system includes selectable modes for sand, snow, and rock, ensuring the vehicle remains composed regardless of the terrain.

Comfort & Cabin

The interior is designed for 8-passenger comfort, featuring dedicated rear climate control vents that are essential for maintaining cabin temperatures during peak summer. The Platinum City trim includes genuine quilted leather and wood-grain accents, creating an executive feel that rivals European luxury brands. Cabin insulation is excellent, keeping road noise to a minimum even at high highway speeds across the Emirates.

Safety

This trim comes equipped with Nissan’s Intelligent Mobility suite, including Forward Collision Warning, Automatic Emergency Braking, and Blind Spot Intervention to help navigate fast-moving highway traffic. It also features Lane Departure Warning and a 360-degree camera system that makes parking this large SUV in tight city spaces much simpler. The standard airbag suite provides full curtain coverage for all three rows of passengers.

The bottom line

This is the ideal choice for a GCC family looking for flagship luxury and iconic presence without the higher fuel bills of the V8, specifically benefiting from the region's best resale color.
