Summary

This 2022 Nissan X-Terra SE is a highly practical choice for GCC families, offering seven seats and a capable all-wheel-drive system at a competitive price point. With 74,000 km, the mileage is average for its age in the region, suggesting a well-used but mechanically sound history typical for local school runs and commutes. The white exterior is the top-performing resale color in the UAE and Saudi markets, providing a significant advantage when it comes time to upgrade. As a modern successor to the rugged original, this X-Terra balances daily road comfort with enough clearance for weekend beach trips or light desert trails. Its 2.5L engine is specifically tuned for reliability and predictable power delivery across the long highway stretches of the Emirates.

This Car vs Other 2022 X-Terras

At 74,000 km, this vehicle sits right at the expected average for a three-year-old SUV in the GCC, where annual driving often hits 25,000 km due to highway commutes. Its white finish is the most sought-after color in the local used market, ensuring faster turnover and better price retention than darker or metallic alternatives. As a GCC-spec model, it bypasses the potential insurance and cooling complications often found with imported American-spec counterparts.

SE vs Lower Trims

The SE trim is the strategic sweet spot in the lineup, upgrading the base experience with 17-inch alloy wheels and integrated fog lamps for better visibility. Inside, it adds essential driver aids including a 7-inch Advanced Driver Assist Display and cruise control, making long drives between emirates significantly less taxing. Crucially, the SE features a leather-wrapped steering wheel and a more advanced 8-inch infotainment screen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compared to the basic units in entry-level trims.

X-Terra vs Segment Rivals

The X-Terra leads rivals like the Toyota Fortuner and Mitsubishi Montero Sport in terms of on-road refinement and cabin ergonomics, utilizing a smoother coil-spring rear suspension setup. Its 78-litre fuel tank provides a superior cruising range for cross-border trips compared to many compact crossovers in the same price bracket. While the Fortuner leans toward heavy off-roading, the X-Terra offers a more balanced family environment with better second and third-row accessibility.

Running Costs & Resale

Real-world fuel consumption for the 2.5L powertrain averages approximately 11 km/L, which is efficient for a seven-seater in GCC highway conditions. Nissan maintains one of the most comprehensive service networks across the UAE, Saudi Arabia, and Oman, keeping parts affordable and maintenance straightforward. The model historically retains roughly 70-75% of its value after three years in the GCC, outperforming many American and European competitors in the SUV segment.

Performance & Capability

The 165 hp 2.5L engine provides linear and predictable power, paired with a 7-speed automatic transmission designed for smooth shifts at highway speeds. With 243 mm of ground clearance, it easily navigates high curbs and uneven wadi tracks that would bottom out a standard sedan. The all-wheel-drive system provides essential traction for sandy weekend spots and rain-slicked city roads during the winter months.

Comfort & Cabin

The cabin is designed for the GCC climate, featuring a dual-zone automatic climate control system with dedicated vents for all three rows to ensure rapid cooling in 45°C temperatures. The theater-style seating arrangement gives rear passengers a better view out of the front, reducing motion sickness on long trips. Acoustic glass and reinforced insulation help keep the interior quiet, filtering out high-speed wind noise during desert highway cruises.

Safety

Standard safety equipment on the SE trim includes a suite of front, side, and curtain airbags to protect all seven occupants. Active safety is supported by Vehicle Dynamic Control (VDC), Hill Start Assist, and Electronic Brakeforce Distribution, which are particularly effective for maintaining stability on gravel or sand-dusted roads. The inclusion of a 7-inch digital driver display allows for immediate monitoring of tire pressures, a critical safety check before any long-distance summer drive.

The bottom line

This X-Terra SE is the ideal match for a growing family needing GCC-spec reliability and high resale potential without the premium price of a V6. It represents a balanced opportunity to own a modern, well-maintained SUV that is as comfortable in downtown traffic as it is on a weekend getaway.
