Summary

This 2022 Peugeot 2008 Active is a standout choice in the compact crossover segment, blending French design flair with practical GCC-specific performance. With a 1.6-liter naturally aspirated engine, it avoids the complexities of turbocharging, making it a reliable partner for the region’s extreme heat and stop-start traffic. Its grey exterior is a highly sought-after shade in the local used market, ensuring strong resale interest when you're ready to upgrade. This specific trim offers the essential modern tech every driver needs, while the mileage is well-balanced for a vehicle that has spent two years on UAE highways. For a buyer seeking a stylish, efficient, and regionally optimized SUV, this listing represents a very sensible entry into the Peugeot family.

This Car vs Other 2022 2008s

With 77,701 km on the odometer, this vehicle has been driven roughly 38,000 km per year, which is slightly above the typical GCC average for a small crossover. However, this often indicates consistent highway use between emirates, which can be less taxing on the engine than heavy inner-city idling in peak summer. The grey exterior is a neutral, high-demand color in the UAE and Saudi markets, providing a clear resale advantage over more niche bright colors.

ACTIVE vs Lower Trims

As the base entry for the second-generation model in the GCC, the Active trim focuses on core essentials that matter for local comfort. It includes a 7-inch color touchscreen with smartphone mirroring, cruise control for long desert drives, and rear parking sensors with a camera to navigate tight mall parking. Unlike entry-level models in other markets, the GCC Active trim retains 17-inch dual-tone alloy wheels and automatic dual-zone climate control as standard.

2008 vs Segment Rivals

The Peugeot 2008 competes directly with the Nissan Kicks and MG ZS, leading the pack in fuel efficiency with an impressive 4.8 L/100km manufacturer rating. While rivals often feel utilitarian, the Peugeot’s i-Cockpit layout and high-grade cabin materials provide a more premium European feel. Its 1.6L four-cylinder engine is specifically favored by local buyers over smaller three-cylinder turbos for its simpler maintenance and proven heat tolerance.

Running Costs & Resale

Real-world fuel consumption for the 1.6L unit is remarkably low, consistently averaging below 6.8 L/100km even in typical Dubai or Riyadh stop-start traffic. Peugeot has an extensive authorized service network through Swaidan in the UAE and Almajdouie in KSA, ensuring parts and expert technicians are always accessible. While European crossovers typically depreciate by 12-15% annually in the GCC, the 2008’s popularity in the rental and small-family segments keeps secondary market demand high.

Performance & Capability

The 1.6-liter engine produces 115 hp and 160 Nm of torque, paired with a smooth 6-speed automatic transmission designed for reliability. While it is not a desert off-roader, its generous ground clearance makes it perfectly capable of handling gravel tracks, high speed bumps, and seasonal rain pooling on city streets. The front-wheel-drive setup is optimized for highway stability, offering a composed and quiet ride during long-distance trips between emirates.

Comfort & Cabin

The cabin features the innovative i-Cockpit with a compact steering wheel that makes city maneuvering effortless. For the GCC climate, the dual-zone air conditioning is notably powerful, supported by ventilated glovebox storage to keep drinks cool during the summer. The 434-liter boot space is among the most practical in its class, expanding significantly with the rear seats folded to accommodate large grocery runs or weekend gear.

Safety

Safety is a priority with a suite of standard features including multiple airbags, Electronic Stability Program (ESP), and Anti-lock Braking System (ABS) with EBD. It also features a tire pressure monitoring system which is essential for maintaining safety during high-temperature highway runs. The 2008 generation carries a 5-star ANCAP rating, reflecting its robust build and effective passenger protection systems.

The bottom line

This 2008 Active is the perfect match for a young professional or small family looking for a stylish, fuel-efficient European SUV that is mechanically simple enough to thrive in the GCC climate.
