Summary

This 2022 Peugeot 3008 Active Plus is a refined choice for buyers seeking French design and premium cabin technology without the high depreciation of new luxury SUVs. In the GCC market, black remains a high-demand resale color, offering a sophisticated look that holds its appeal better than niche shades. While the mileage reflects active use, the 1.6-liter turbocharged engine is a proven highway performer across the region, delivering a smooth balance of power and efficiency. For UAE and GCC drivers, this model stands out for its high-quality interior finishes and advanced digital cockpit, which remain among the best in the segment. It offers a more distinctive, design-led alternative to the more common Japanese crossovers found on Dubai and Riyadh roads.

This Car vs Other 2022 3008s

At 135,000 km, this vehicle has covered more distance than the typical GCC annual average of 25,000 km, suggesting frequent highway use which often results in less wear on the transmission and brakes compared to city driving. The black exterior is a significant advantage for future resale value in the local market, as it remains one of the top three preferred colors in the UAE. Its condition and full-spec features make it a compelling value-led choice compared to lower-mileage base models.

ACTIVE PLUS vs Lower Trims

The Active Plus trim bridges the gap between the base model and the high-end GT, adding essential tech that GCC buyers value, such as the 180-degree color reversing camera and enhanced digital displays. It upgrades the cabin experience with premium fabric and leather-effect finishes, along with larger alloy wheels that improve the vehicle's road presence. Unlike the entry-level Active, this trim typically includes keyless entry and start, which is a major convenience in the intense summer heat of the region.

3008 vs Segment Rivals

The 3008 competes directly with the Volkswagen Tiguan and Toyota RAV4, leading the class in interior avant-garde design and cockpit ergonomics. Its 520-liter boot space is highly competitive, offering more practical storage for family trips between emirates than several compact rivals. While Japanese competitors focus on utility, the Peugeot offers a more premium European driving feel and superior cabin materials that feel a class above its price point.

Running Costs & Resale

The 1.6L turbocharged engine is efficient for GCC commuting, with a combined fuel consumption of approximately 7.0L/100km, though stop-start city traffic in places like Dubai may see figures closer to 8.5L/100km. Service intervals in the UAE are typically recommended every 10,000 km due to the extreme heat, and Peugeot’s authorized service network is well-established across major GCC cities. While it depreciates faster than a Toyota, the 3008 retains value better than many other European crossovers due to its high demand in the used market.

Performance & Capability

The 165 hp turbocharged engine provides a punchy 240 Nm of torque, allowing for confident highway overtaking and a respectable 0–100 km/h time of 8.9 seconds. Its front-wheel-drive setup is optimized for paved roads and light gravel, providing a stable and comfortable ride on long cross-border drives. With a ground clearance of approximately 198mm, it handles urban speed bumps and uneven site access roads typical of developing GCC neighborhoods with ease.

Comfort & Cabin

Inside, the i-Cockpit features a compact steering wheel and a 12.3-inch digital instrument panel that places essential information directly in the driver's line of sight. The dual-zone automatic climate control is robustly designed to handle high ambient temperatures, with dedicated rear vents ensuring passenger comfort during the summer months. Acoustic insulation is a high point, keeping the cabin quiet and isolated from road noise during high-speed highway cruising.

Safety

This model is equipped with a comprehensive safety suite including six airbags, electronic stability control, and emergency braking assistance. The Active Plus trim further enhances safety with the Visiopark 180-degree camera and rear parking sensors, which are invaluable for navigating tight parking spaces in busy urban centers. Its 5-star safety heritage provides peace of mind for families, ensuring high levels of occupant protection standard across the range.

The bottom line

This Peugeot 3008 is the ideal choice for a professional or small family who wants European style and advanced tech at a more accessible price point. It represents a smart opportunity to own a modern, high-spec SUV that stands out in the GCC's crowded crossover market.
