Summary

This 2022 TRX stands as the definitive performance benchmark in the full-size pickup segment, offering a level of capability that few vehicles on the road can match. While the mileage reflects a history of consistent highway use common in North American regions, its mechanical condition remains robust for the demanding GCC environment. The vibrant orange exterior is a high-visibility choice that resonates with the bold lifestyle of truck enthusiasts across the UAE and Saudi Arabia. Choosing this specific unit means securing a supercharged powerplant that many manufacturers are now phasing out, making it an increasingly rare find on the used market. For a GCC buyer, this truck offers an immediate gateway into high-speed desert exploration and effortless highway cruising across the emirates. Its combination of raw power and sophisticated suspension makes it a versatile daily driver and a weekend warrior in one package.

This Car vs Other 2022 1500s

With 77,000 km on the odometer, this TRX has seen slightly more use than the typical GCC average for its age, but it is important to consider its Canadian origins where long-distance highway commutes are the standard. In the local market, many 2022 models are just reaching their second major service interval, and this truck's mileage suggests it has already been thoroughly vetted for long-term reliability. The orange paint is a standout feature, as it is one of the more sought-after 'launch-style' colors that maintains a higher level of desirability than standard white or silver trims. While most other 1500s from this year focus on utility or mild luxury, this specific unit provides a performance envelope that is entirely different from the rest of the lineup. It represents a well-traveled but high-specification example that bridges the gap between a collector's item and a ready-to-use desert predator.

TRX vs Lower Trims

Moving up to the TRX from a Rebel or Laramie is not just a trim upgrade; it is a total mechanical transformation that GCC buyers will feel the moment they step on the accelerator. This trim introduces the supercharged 6.2-liter engine and the Bilstein Black Hawk e2 active damping system, which provides a plush ride on Dubai's highways and unmatched stability on sand dunes. Unlike lower trims, you Get a reinforced steel frame and a wider track for enhanced high-speed stability. Inside, the TRX replaces standard materials with premium leather, Alcantara accents, and a fixed center console that houses the performance mode selector. You also benefit from a high-performance cooling system designed to handle the massive heat generated by the supercharger, which is a critical advantage during the peak summer months in the Middle East.

1500 vs Segment Rivals

The TRX primarily competes with the Ford F-150 Raptor and the Chevrolet Silverado ZR2, but it holds a distinct power advantage over both. While the Raptor relies on a twin-turbo V6 in most configurations, this truck utilizes a massive supercharged V8 that offers a more visceral soundtrack and more immediate torque for overtaking on the E11 highway. It leads the segment in raw horsepower, making it the most powerful factory-produced half-ton pickup available in the region. Its interior quality is also widely considered superior to its cross-town rivals, featuring a more modern vertical touchscreen and better sound insulation. For GCC buyers who prioritize a 'king of the road' presence, the TRX's widened body and aggressive stance give it more curb appeal than more common utility-focused trucks.

Running Costs & Resale

Real-world fuel consumption for this supercharged engine typically averages around 18-22L/100km in mixed GCC driving, though highway figures can improve during long cruises at steady speeds. It requires high-octane 98 Super fuel to maintain peak performance and engine health in high-temperature conditions. Servicing is supported by a wide network of specialized garages and authorized service centers across the UAE, Saudi Arabia, and Kuwait, ensuring parts like filters and fluids are readily available. As a Canadian spec vehicle, buyers should ensure a thorough inspection of the undercarriage and cooling systems to confirm they meet local standards, as GCC-spec models often command a 10-15% premium. However, the TRX model as a whole has shown remarkable value retention in the region, often losing less than 12% of its value annually due to its cult status and the dwindling supply of large-displacement V8 engines.

Performance & Capability

The headline figure is the staggering 702 horsepower, which enables a 0-100 km/h sprint in just 4.5 seconds—a feat that puts many sports cars to shame. This performance is manageable thanks to a sophisticated four-wheel-drive system and eight different drive modes, including a dedicated 'Baja' mode for high-speed desert running. With 11.8 inches of ground clearance, it easily clears obstacles that would stop other pickups in their tracks. The towing capacity remains respectable at over 3,600 kg, making it capable of hauling large boats or trailers for weekend trips to Fujairah or Jebel Jais. The massive 35-inch tires and specialized suspension allow it to absorb impacts from sand ruts and speed bumps with equal composure. It is a truck designed not just to work, but to dominate every terrain it encounters.

Comfort & Cabin

Inside, the TRX offers a five-seat layout that rivals luxury sedans for sheer space and material quality. The cabin is equipped with a heavily bolstered seating system that keeps passengers secure during spirited off-road driving while offering heating and ventilation for maximum comfort in the Sharjah heat. A 12-inch vertical Uconnect touchscreen serves as the hub for navigation and performance data, supported by a premium 19-speaker Harman Kardon audio system that is among the best in the truck segment. Rear passengers enjoy class-leading legroom, making it an ideal vehicle for family road trips across the GCC borders. Dual-zone climate control with dedicated rear vents ensures that the entire cabin remains chilled even when outside temperatures exceed 45 degrees. The use of carbon fiber and suede throughout the interior creates a cockpit-like feel that justifies its position at the top of the range.

Safety

Safety is paramount in a vehicle of this size and power, and the TRX comes equipped with a comprehensive suite of driver-assist technologies. Blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-path detection are vital for navigating the busy multi-lane highways of Riyadh and Dubai, especially given the truck's wide profile. Adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go functionality makes long desert hauls far less taxing, while Forward Collision Warning with Active Braking provides an extra layer of protection in sudden traffic stops. The truck features a high-strength steel frame designed to optimize occupant protection in the event of an impact. Additionally, the electronic stability control is specifically tuned to handle the high center of gravity and massive torque, ensuring the vehicle remains composed during emergency maneuvers on both pavement and gravel.

The bottom line

For the buyer who wants the most powerful and aggressive pickup in the GCC without the waitlist of a new model, this 2022 TRX is an exceptional choice. Its Canadian heritage and well-maintained condition make it a high-value entry point into the elite club of supercharged truck ownership.
