Highlights

• 700 Nm of torque
• 3,500 kg braked towing capacity
• Low-range transfer case with locking differentials

Summary

This Land Cruiser VXR delivers the torque-heavy performance of the 3.3L twin-turbo diesel, a powertrain highly prized in the GCC for its long-range efficiency and overtaking power. The VXR trim sits at the top of the standard range, offering a significant upgrade in cabin tech and materials over the GXR. With its black exterior and Japanese specification, it presents a prestigious look while maintaining the legendary durability expected of the 300 Series. Its mileage is below average for a GCC-based vehicle of this age, making it an excellent opportunity to own the current-generation flagship without the new-car premium. The diesel configuration is particularly suited for those planning frequent long-distance road trips between emirates or across borders.

This Car vs Other 2022 Land Cruisers

With 41,000 km on the odometer, this vehicle has been driven approximately 20,500 km per year, which is comfortably below the 25,000 km average seen in the high-mileage GCC market. The black exterior is a Tier-1 resale color in the UAE and Saudi Arabia, ensuring it remains highly liquid in the used market. Being the diesel VXR, it offers a combination of premium features and fuel range that is rarer than the petrol variants commonly found in local showrooms.

VXR vs Lower Trims

The VXR trim adds a higher level of interior refinement compared to the mid-range GXR, typically featuring a larger infotainment display and an upgraded premium audio system. Crucially for the GCC climate, it includes ventilated seating as standard and an enhanced multi-zone climate control system. It also features more advanced driver assistance technologies and higher-grade leather upholstery that improves the overall cabin ambiance.

Land Cruiser vs Segment Rivals

The Land Cruiser leads rivals like the Nissan Patrol and Chevrolet Tahoe in terms of total fuel range when equipped with this diesel engine, making it the preferred choice for cross-border travel. Its body-on-frame construction and advanced Multi-Terrain Select system provide a level of off-road durability that monocoque competitors cannot match. Furthermore, the Land Cruiser’s service network remains the most extensive across the entire GCC region.

Running Costs & Resale

The 3.3L diesel offers a combined fuel consumption of approximately 8.9 to 10.7 L/100km, significantly more efficient than its petrol counterparts in heavy GCC traffic. Toyota's authorized service network is unparalleled, with major centers in every GCC capital ensuring parts and expertise are always available. Historically, the Land Cruiser retains over 80% of its value after three years in the GCC, representing the strongest value retention in the full-size SUV segment.

Performance & Capability

The twin-turbo diesel produces a massive 700 Nm of torque, allowing for effortless highway overtaking even when fully loaded. The TNGA-F platform and 235 mm of ground clearance provide exceptional stability and approach angles for desert driving. With a 3,500 kg braked towing capacity, it is perfectly suited for hauling boats or trailers to the coast.

Comfort & Cabin

The cabin is designed for five passengers, offering expansive legroom and a quiet ride thanks to improved acoustic insulation in the 300 Series. High-output air conditioning and front ventilated seats are essential for GCC summers, ensuring rapid cooling even after the car has been parked in the sun. The Japanese-spec VXR features premium trim finishes and an intuitive digital cockpit that keeps all controls within easy reach.

Safety

Standard safety features include a comprehensive airbag system and Toyota’s advanced driver assistance suite, featuring Pre-Collision System and Lane Trace Assist. The 360-degree panoramic view monitor is invaluable for navigating tight parking spots in Dubai or Riyadh. The vehicle also includes Multi-Terrain ABS and Electronic Stability Control, specifically tuned for maintaining grip on both asphalt and shifting sand surfaces.

The bottom line

This VXR is the ideal choice for a buyer seeking the pinnacle of Land Cruiser luxury combined with the superior range of a diesel engine. It is a highly reliable, low-mileage example that offers exceptional value retention and GCC-ready performance.
