Summary

This GCC-spec Land Cruiser VXR offers the perfect balance of relentless diesel torque and flagship luxury, making it one of the most capable long-distance cruisers in the region. With the 3.3-litre twin-turbo V6, you benefit from superior fuel efficiency and overtaking power compared to the standard petrol variants, all while retaining the legendary durability the 300-series is known for. The VXR trim elevates the experience with a significantly more refined cabin and advanced suspension tech that rivals don't match. As a white exterior model, it holds the strongest resale position in the GCC market while helping deflect the intense summer heat. For a buyer looking for a dependable family workhorse that feels like a luxury lounge, this is the definitive choice.

This Car vs Other 2022 Land Cruisers

With 107,000 km, this vehicle’s mileage is average for a GCC-based Land Cruiser, where highway-heavy commutes between emirates are the norm. The white exterior is the highest-demand color in the UAE and Saudi markets, ensuring faster resale and better thermal management during summer. While many 2022 models in the market are entry-level petrol trims, this diesel VXR stands out for its specific mechanical longevity and premium equipment level.

VXR vs Lower Trims

The VXR flagship trim adds significant luxury over the GXR and VX, including a premium 14-speaker JBL audio system and larger 12.3-inch high-resolution infotainment display. GCC buyers will particularly appreciate the ventilated seats for all primary passengers and the more advanced Adaptive Variable Suspension (AVS) which provides a smoother ride on paved highways. It also features a full 360-degree camera system and higher-grade leather upholstery that transforms the cabin into an executive environment.

Land Cruiser vs Segment Rivals

Compared to the Nissan Patrol, the Land Cruiser leads with its twin-turbo diesel efficiency and massive 110-litre fuel tank, providing a vastly superior driving range for cross-border trips to Oman or Saudi Arabia. While rivals like the Land Rover Defender offer modern tech, the Toyota maintains an unmatched footprint of authorized service centers across every corner of the GCC. The body-on-frame construction ensures it handles desert terrain with a level of structural integrity that monocoque competitors struggle to match long-term.

Running Costs & Resale

Real-world fuel consumption for this diesel powertrain averages approximately 8.9 to 10.5 L/100km, offering a significant saving over petrol V6 and V8 alternatives in stop-start city traffic. Maintenance is straightforward with 10,000 km service intervals, and the Al-Futtaim and Ebrahim K. Kanoo networks ensure parts are always available locally. The Land Cruiser remains the gold standard for value retention in the region, typically retaining over 80% of its value after three years, far outperforming European luxury SUVs.

Performance & Capability

The standout figure is the 700 Nm of torque, which provides effortless pulling power whether you are towing a boat or overtaking at highway speeds. The twin-turbo diesel V6 is paired with a sophisticated 10-speed automatic transmission that keeps the engine in its optimal power band for smooth, quiet cruising. With a permanent all-wheel-drive system and a dedicated low-range transfer case, this SUV is as home on a steep dune as it is on Sheikh Zayed Road.

Comfort & Cabin

The seven-seat layout is designed for maximum family utility, featuring multi-zone climate control with dedicated vents for all three rows to ensure rapid cooling in 45°C temperatures. The VXR cabin is exceptionally well-insulated, utilizing acoustic glass to maintain a quiet environment even at high highway speeds. Practical touches like the cooled center console refrigerator are essential for GCC summers, keeping drinks cold during long desert drives.

Safety

Standard on this trim is the full Toyota Safety Sense suite, including adaptive cruise control and lane-keeping assist which are invaluable for long desert highway stretches. It features a comprehensive 10-airbag system and blind-spot monitoring to handle fast-moving multi-lane traffic safely. The 360-degree camera system provides a bird's-eye view, making it much easier to maneuver this large SUV in tight city parking or across technical off-road obstacles.

The bottom line

This is a prime opportunity for a buyer who prioritizes the range and torque of a diesel engine without sacrificing the top-tier luxury of the VXR trim. In the current GCC market, a white GCC-spec 300-series is the safest automotive investment you can make.
