Summary

This 2022 Toyota Land Cruiser GXR hits the sweet spot for GCC buyers, combining the highly reliable 4.0L V6 engine with the modern 300-series chassis. With 69,000 km over 4 years, it has been driven exactly in line with the regional average of roughly 17,000 km per year, suggesting a well-maintained highway-balanced life. The white exterior is a strategic choice for the local market, offering the best possible heat reflection and the highest resale liquidity in the UAE. As a GCC-spec model, it features the heavy-duty cooling systems essential for cross-emirate summer drives. This GXR trim bridges the gap between rugged utility and luxury, making it an ideal candidate for anyone needing a dependable family flagship that holds its value better than almost any other vehicle in the segment.

This Car vs Other 2022 Land Cruisers

With a Vehicle Age of 4 years and 69,000 km on the clock, this Land Cruiser sits right at the expected average for a car of this type in the GCC, where 20,000 km per year is the standard benchmark. This indicates the vehicle hasn't been subjected to excessive long-haul commercial or rental use often found in higher-mileage examples. The white paintwork is the most sought-after color in the regional used market, ensuring faster resale and better price retention than darker alternatives.

GXR vs Lower Trims

The GXR trim provides a significant jump in daily comfort and technology over the base EXR variant. It adds premium features that GCC buyers value most, such as synthetic leather upholstery, a power-adjustable driver's seat, and a more sophisticated interior trim. Most importantly, the GXR introduces the Panoramic View Monitor (360-degree camera) and a broader suite of active safety tech, making the large 300-series footprint much easier to navigate in tight city parking.

Land Cruiser vs Segment Rivals

When compared to the Nissan Patrol or Land Rover Defender, the Land Cruiser leads with its unmatched reputation for mechanical durability and the widest parts availability in the region. Its 110-litre fuel capacity is specifically designed for long desert highway runs where fuel stops can be sparse. While rivals may focus on raw horsepower or air suspension, the Toyota's body-on-frame construction and simpler V6 powertrain offer lower long-term maintenance costs in high-heat environments.

Running Costs & Resale

The 4.0L V6 is famously 'under-stressed,' leading to legendary longevity and a depreciation rate that is typically 8-10% lower annually than its European luxury counterparts. Service intervals are generally every 10,000 km, and with the most extensive authorized service network across the UAE, Saudi Arabia, and Oman, maintenance is never a logistical challenge. This model consistently ranks as one of the best vehicles for 3-year value retention in the GCC market.

Performance & Capability

Equipped with a 3,500 kg braked towing capacity, this SUV is a primary choice for towing boats or trailers across the Emirates. The 271 hp V6 is paired with a selectable 4WD system featuring a low-range transfer case and a center differential lock, providing genuine desert-crossing ability. Standard Multi-Terrain Select and Crawl Control allow the driver to maintain steady momentum over sand dunes, a feature that distinguishes the Land Cruiser from road-biased crossovers.

Comfort & Cabin

The seven-seat cabin is designed for large family logistics, featuring a tri-zone climate control system with dedicated rear vents to ensure all passengers remain cool during the peak of summer. Genuine 300-series refinements include improved cabin insulation from road noise and a 9-inch infotainment system with smartphone mirroring. The GXR also features the highly useful cooled center console, or 'cool box,' for keeping beverages chilled on long journeys.

Safety

Safety is a priority for this mid-spec trim, featuring Toyota Safety Sense which includes Dynamic Radar Cruise Control and a Pre-Collision System. These systems are particularly beneficial for the high-speed, multi-lane highway traffic common in Dubai and Riyadh. It also includes Blind Spot Monitoring, Rear Cross-Traffic Alert, and multiple airbags, providing a comprehensive safety shield that is often optional on entry-level rivals.

The bottom line

For the UAE family seeking the ultimate balance of 300-series prestige and bulletproof reliability, this white GCC-spec GXR represents a lower-risk, high-retention investment that is ready for the dunes and the school run alike.
