Toyota Land Cruiser 70 LC79 LX

Highlights

• 3,500 kg braked towing capacity
• 130-litre fuel tank standard
• Low-range transfer case with locking differentials

Summary

This 2022 Land Cruiser 70 is a rare find in the GCC market, showing just 8,000 km on the odometer—mileage that is exceptionally low for a four-year-old vehicle in this region. Finished in the iconic Beige exterior that commands the strongest resale value in the UAE, this LC79 LX single-cab offers a perfect balance of heritage styling and modern utility. It stands out from modern rivals by sticking to a manual gearbox and a naturally aspirated V6, ensuring unmatched long-term reliability for remote desert expeditions. For a buyer in the GCC, the most important factor is the sheer durability of this platform, which is supported by the region's most extensive service and parts network. This specific listing represents a nearly-new opportunity to own the ultimate Japanese workhorse without the typical wear and tear of a four-wheel-drive vehicle.

This Car vs Other 2022 Land Cruiser 70s

With only 8,000 km, this vehicle has covered significantly less ground than the average 2022 model, which typically averages 40,000 to 50,000 km in the UAE. The Beige paint is not just a classic aesthetic choice but a strategic one for the local market, as it remains the most sought-after color for resale. This low-mileage example offers a factory-fresh feel that is difficult to find among used 70 Series pickups often used for heavy-duty work.

LC79 LX vs Lower Trims

The LX trim elevates the LC79 from a basic work vehicle to a more comfortable daily driver, adding premium features like alloy wheels and chrome exterior accents. Inside, the LX includes wood-grain dashboard trim, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, and synthetic leather upholstery which are absent on standard workmate versions. Crucially for GCC buyers, this trim typically features power windows and remote central locking as standard equipment.

Land Cruiser 70 vs Segment Rivals

The Land Cruiser 70 leads its primary rival, the Nissan Patrol Safari, through its heavy-duty leaf-spring rear suspension and superior 3,500 kg towing capacity. While modern competitors offer more cabin technology, the LC79 provides a 130-litre fuel tank that is essential for long-distance desert crossings where fuel stops are unavailable. Its mechanical simplicity ensures it remains serviceable in remote areas where electronic-heavy rivals might face difficulties.

Running Costs & Resale

Fuel consumption for the 4.0L V6 typically averages around 15L/100km in GCC driving conditions, reflecting the vehicle's rugged aerodynamics. Service intervals are recommended every 10,000 km, and Toyota’s authorized network is the most comprehensive across the UAE and Saudi Arabia, ensuring low labor costs and immediate parts availability. This model enjoys one of the lowest depreciation rates in the region, often retaining over 75% of its value after three years.

Performance & Capability

The 228 hp V6 engine provides a robust 360 Nm of torque, which, paired with a 5-speed manual transmission, offers precise control for technical off-road driving. Its selectable all-wheel-drive system and low-range transfer case allow it to navigate soft sand dunes that would stop most modern crossovers. With a factory-fitted snorkel and high ground clearance, this pickup is engineered to handle extreme GCC summer temperatures and deep sand without overheating.

Comfort & Cabin

The single-cab layout provides a focused 3-seat configuration with a surprisingly powerful air conditioning system designed to cool the cabin rapidly even in 50°C heat. The LX interior features synthetic leather seats and an upgraded center console that includes a refrigerator/cool box for keeping drinks cold during long drives. Sound insulation is optimized for a utility vehicle, while the wood-trimmed dashboard provides a touch of classic luxury to the rugged cabin.

Safety

Standard safety features on this trim include dual front airbags and an Anti-lock Braking System (ABS) with Electronic Brake-force Distribution (EBD). It also features Vehicle Stability Control (VSC) and Active Traction Control (A-TRC), which are vital for maintaining grip on unpredictable desert terrain. A factory-installed tire pressure monitoring system (TPMS) provides peace of mind when airing down tires for off-road excursions.

The bottom line

This is a collector-quality LC79 for the buyer who demands a zero-compromise desert tool with the lowest possible mileage in the market. It offers the best resale color and trim combination available, making it a safe financial investment and a legendary off-road performer.
