Ford F-150 RAPTOR R CREW

Highlights

• 700 hp from a 5.2-liter supercharged V8
• 333 mm maximum ground clearance
• 3,946 kg braked towing capacity

Summary

This 2023 Raptor R represents the absolute peak of the F-150 lineup, trading the standard V6 for the legendary supercharged 'Predator' V8. The Blue exterior is a high-demand choice in the GCC, offering better heat reflection than darker tones while maintaining a strong presence and excellent resale liquidity. With 56,030 km, this truck has been driven just above the regional average for its age, suggesting it has spent most of its time on the UAE’s well-maintained highway networks rather than harsh off-road trails. For the GCC buyer, the Raptor R is the ultimate multi-role tool, capable of crossing soft dunes on Friday and towing heavy loads across the emirates on Saturday without breaking a sweat.

This Car vs Other 2023 F-150s

At 56,030 km, this Raptor R sits slightly above the typical 20,000–25,000 km annual average for the GCC, reflecting its strength as a long-distance highway cruiser. While higher-mileage V6 models are common, finding an 'R' variant that hasn't been heavily modified for desert racing is a distinct advantage. The Blue finish is a neutral yet popular resale color in the regional market, offering a balanced alternative to the ubiquitous white and black options.

RAPTOR R CREW vs Lower Trims

The 'R' is a complete mechanical departure from the standard Raptor, swapping the 3.5L EcoBoost for a 700 hp supercharged V8. Beyond the engine, this trim includes 37-inch BFGoodrich tires as standard, Recaro sport seats with Alcantara inserts, and exclusive carbon fiber interior accents. It also features a reinforced front axle and a thicker driveshaft specifically engineered to handle the massive torque increase.

F-150 vs Segment Rivals

Its primary rival is the Ram 1500 TRX; while both offer similar horsepower, the Raptor R is significantly lighter, giving it an edge in sand dune agility. Compared to the Toyota Tundra TRD Pro, the Ford offers a vastly superior ground clearance of 333 mm and a more advanced 5-link rear coil suspension for high-speed stability. The 136-litre fuel tank is a crucial lead over many competitors, providing the range necessary for cross-border GCC drives.

Running Costs & Resale

Real-world fuel consumption averages around 19.7 L/100km combined, though GCC city traffic can push this closer to 24 L/100km. Service intervals are typically every 10,000 km, supported by Ford's extensive authorized network across the UAE, Saudi Arabia, and Kuwait. As a range-topping V8 model, the Raptor R enjoys exceptionally strong value retention, often depreciating far slower than standard luxury pickups in the local market.

Performance & Capability

The supercharged 5.2L V8 delivers a massive 868 Nm of torque, enabling 0–60 mph in just 3.6 seconds. The Fox Live Valve shocks are tuned specifically for high-speed desert running, automatically adjusting to terrain changes in milliseconds. With specialized Baja and Rock Crawl modes, this truck is equally comfortable navigating soft Liwa sands or cruising at 140 km/h on the E11 highway.

Comfort & Cabin

The SuperCrew cabin offers generous legroom for five adults, making it a viable family vehicle for long road trips. Standard ventilated front seats and a powerful dual-zone AC system are essential for the GCC summer, ensuring the cabin stays cool even in 45°C heat. The 12-inch SYNC 4 touchscreen and 18-speaker B&O Unleashed sound system provide a premium executive feel that rivals luxury sedans.

Safety

The Raptor R is equipped with Ford’s full suite of ADAS technology, including Blind Spot Information System (BLIS) with trailer coverage and Adaptive Cruise Control with Stop-and-Go. These systems are particularly valuable for managing fast-moving highway traffic between cities. The 360-degree camera system is standard, providing critical visibility when maneuvering this large vehicle in tight urban parking or over steep desert crests.

The bottom line

This Raptor R is the perfect match for the enthusiast who demands supercar performance in a desert-proof package, offering the rare combination of a high-output V8 and GCC-spec reliability.
