Summary

This 2023 Ford F-150 Raptor R represents the absolute peak of the American super-truck era, featuring the legendary 5.2-liter supercharged Predator V8. With 36,500 km on the clock, this GCC-spec example has been driven slightly above average for its 3-year age, though its mechanical robusticity is designed specifically for high-speed desert endurance. The Black exterior remains the most sought-after resale color in the UAE market, ensuring strong value retention for a model that is effectively a modern collectible. For the GCC buyer, this truck offers the ultimate bridge between a daily-driver pickup and a sand-dune-conquering weapon, backed by a massive local service network. It is the definitive answer to the high-horsepower truck wars, offering a level of factory-engineered capability that aftermarket builds cannot match.

This Car vs Other 2023 F-150s

While a standard 2023 F-150 is often used as a daily workhorse, this Raptor R is a specialized performance machine with a significantly more robust chassis and powertrain. Its mileage is consistent with a vehicle used for cross-emirate travel, and in the GCC market, the black-on-black configuration is a high-demand premium that facilitates faster resale compared to louder 'Code Orange' alternatives.

RAPTOR R CREW vs Lower Trims

The Raptor R is a monumental leap over the standard V6 Raptor, replacing the EcoBoost engine with the 700 hp supercharged V8 from the Shelby GT500. Beyond the engine, the R trim adds standard 37-inch BFGoodrich tires, reinforced front axles, a unique long-travel suspension with specialized FOX Live Valve shocks, and Recaro seats with carbon fiber interior accents that are unavailable on lower F-150 trims.

F-150 vs Segment Rivals

The Raptor R's primary rival is the RAM 1500 TRX; while both offer immense power, the Ford leads with a lighter curb weight that improves agility in deep sand and technical dunes. It also features a larger 136-liter fuel tank, providing superior range for long-distance desert expeditions or highway trips between Dubai and Riyadh compared to its competitors.

Running Costs & Resale

Ownership costs reflect the high-performance nature of the supercharged V8, which requires 98-octane fuel to maintain its 700 hp output. Maintenance is supported by Ford's extensive authorized service network across the UAE, Saudi Arabia, and Kuwait, with parts availability being significantly better than boutique performance brands. As a flagship 'R' model with a discontinued engine configuration, it enjoys much slower depreciation than standard pickups in the GCC market.

Performance & Capability

The heart of this truck is the 5.2-liter V8 delivering 700 hp and 867 Nm of torque, enabling a 0–100 km/h sprint that rivals many European sports cars. Its 332 mm of ground clearance and 13.1 inches of suspension travel allow for high-speed desert running that would compromise the frame of a standard truck. Dedicated drive modes, including 'Baja' and 'Rock Crawl,' electronically adjust the dampers and exhaust note to suit GCC's diverse terrain.

Comfort & Cabin

The cabin is designed for extreme comfort during the UAE's harsh summers, featuring high-output dual-zone climate control and ventilated Recaro front seats. The 12-inch SYNC 4 touchscreen provides seamless connectivity, while the B&O Unleashed sound system ensures premium audio quality even over the roar of the supercharged V8. Acoustic glass and thick insulation keep the interior remarkably quiet during long highway cruises between emirates.

Safety

Safety is comprehensive, featuring Ford's Co-Pilot360 suite with adaptive cruise control, which is essential for long desert highway drives. It includes blind-spot monitoring, lane-keeping assist, and a 360-degree camera system that is invaluable for maneuvering such a wide vehicle in tight city parking. The reinforced high-strength steel frame provides a robust safety cell, complemented by a full array of advanced airbags.

The bottom line

For the enthusiast who demands the fastest, most capable factory desert truck ever built, this GCC-spec Raptor R is a rare opportunity to own a 700 hp icon in the region's best resale color.
