Summary

This 2023 GMC Yukon SLT offers a powerful combination of American V8 muscle and premium family utility, finished in a high-demand black exterior that ensures strong resale value in the GCC. While the mileage reflects active use, the 5.3L EcoTec3 engine is renowned for its long-term durability and highway cruising efficiency. As a mid-grade trim, the SLT provides significant interior upgrades over the base model, including perforated leather seating and advanced driver assistance. This model stands out for its massive cabin space, comfortably accommodating eight passengers for long-range trips across the Emirates. For the GCC buyer, the most important consideration is the strength of the GMC service network and the specialized cooling systems designed to handle the region's extreme summer heat.

This Car vs Other 2023 Yukons

With 169,000 km, this vehicle has been driven more than the average GCC annual expectation of 25,000 km, yet it presents as a well-maintained highway cruiser. The black exterior is the most sought-after color for this model in the UAE market, significantly aiding its future trade-in potential. Buyers will find this listing offers a more accessible entry point into a current-generation Yukon compared to lower-mileage examples.

SLT vs Lower Trims

The SLT trim is a major step up from the base SLE, adding essential luxury and convenience features for the region. It introduces ventilated front seats—a vital feature for GCC summers—alongside a Bose nine-speaker audio system and leather-appointed upholstery. Additionally, the SLT includes a hands-free power liftgate and 20-inch alloy wheels, which are unavailable as standard on lower trims.

Yukon vs Segment Rivals

The Yukon leads its primary rival, the Ford Expedition, in terms of classic V8 engine character and user-friendly infotainment layout. Compared to the Toyota Land Cruiser, the Yukon offers superior third-row legroom and a larger total fuel tank capacity of 91 liters, making it the preferred choice for large families and long cross-border journeys. Its 10-speed automatic transmission provides smoother shifts than many competitors in this segment.

Running Costs & Resale

Real-world fuel consumption for the 5.3L V8 typically averages around 13.2 L/100km, though this can increase in stop-start city traffic in Dubai or Riyadh. GMC enjoys an extensive authorized service network across the entire GCC, ensuring parts and maintenance are readily available. The Yukon maintains competitive value retention, typically depreciating at a rate of 12-15% annually, which is standard for American full-size SUVs in this market.

Performance & Capability

The 5.3L V8 engine delivers a robust 355 horsepower, allowing for confident highway overtaking even when fully loaded. When equipped with the optional trailering package, it offers a maximum towing capacity of 3,810 kg, ideal for boat or horse trailers. The Traction Select System allows drivers to switch between modes to optimize performance for highway cruising or sandy terrain encountered on weekend escapes.

Comfort & Cabin

The cabin is designed for eight-passenger comfort with a 2-3-3 seating configuration and dedicated rear climate control vents to keep every row cool. Acoustic laminated glass and active noise cancellation ensure a quiet environment, shielding passengers from road noise during long drives. The 10.2-inch infotainment screen features wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto for seamless connectivity.

Safety

Standard safety on the SLT includes the GMC Pro Safety Plus suite, featuring Forward Collision Alert, Lane Keep Assist, and Automatic Emergency Braking. Crucial for fast-moving GCC highway traffic, this trim also includes Blind Zone Alert and Rear Cross Traffic Alert as standard. These systems, combined with a comprehensive airbag suite, provide top-tier protection for all eight occupants.

The bottom line

This Yukon SLT is an excellent choice for a large family seeking a modern, premium V8 SUV with a high-resale color profile at a more accessible price point. It represents a practical opportunity to own a current-gen GMC that is mechanically optimized for the demanding climate and long-distance driving of the GCC.
