Summary

This 2021 Yukon AT4 represents the first year of the redesigned fourth-generation model, bringing a more sophisticated independent rear suspension for vastly improved ride quality. With its mileage sitting just under the typical 100,000 km threshold for this age in the GCC, it remains a mechanically fresh and highly capable family flagship. The AT4 trim is a standout choice for the region, balancing the rugged off-road hardware needed for desert weekends with a premium interior that rivals luxury sedans. The Grey exterior is a versatile, high-demand choice for UAE resale, masking dust well while retaining strong value in the local market. For the GCC buyer, the standard four-wheel-drive system and enhanced cooling capacity make it an ideal partner for long cross-border drives and summer heat.

This Car vs Other 2021 Yukons

At 95,266 km, this Yukon has been driven roughly 24,000 km per year, which is perfectly aligned with the average annual usage for large SUVs in the GCC. The Grey exterior is a highly resilient choice for the local market, consistently ranking among the top three colors for resale strength. Compared to higher-mileage examples often seen in the UAE, this vehicle presents a balanced buying opportunity with significant mechanical life remaining before major scheduled maintenance.

AT4 vs Lower Trims

The AT4 trim adds significant hardware over the SLE and SLT, including a two-speed AutoTrac transfer case and Magnetic Ride Control for superior handling on fast-moving highways. GCC buyers specifically benefit from the standard ventilated front seats and heated steering wheel, alongside a unique high-approach front fascia designed for better clearance. It also introduces the power-folding third row and upgraded leather surfaces that command a premium in the local used market.

Yukon vs Segment Rivals

The Yukon leads the Ford Expedition and Nissan Armada in cargo flexibility, offering up to 3,480 litres of total volume and significantly more third-row legroom thanks to its redesigned rear suspension. Its 5.3L V8 is widely preferred in the region for its balance of power and parts availability compared to smaller turbocharged alternatives. The 91-litre fuel tank ensures extended range for the long desert stretches between cities like Abu Dhabi and Riyadh.

Running Costs & Resale

The 5.3L V8 achieves a combined fuel consumption of approximately 13.5 L/100 km, making it a competitive long-distance cruiser for the UAE's high-speed road network. Maintenance is straightforward across the GCC, with an extensive authorized service network spanning from Muscat to Kuwait City, ensuring parts are always readily available. Resale values for the AT4 trim remain robust, typically depreciating at a slower rate than European rivals due to the high demand for American-spec ruggedness in the local market.

Performance & Capability

Powered by a 355 hp V8, this Yukon delivers effortless overtaking power on multi-lane highways and reliable torque for light sand driving. The AT4-exclusive 2-speed transfer case and Hill Descent Control provide genuine capability for off-pavement excursions during the cooler months. With a maximum towing capacity of 3,720 kg, it is one of the most capable vehicles in its class for hauling boats or trailers across the Emirates.

Comfort & Cabin

The eight-seat configuration features a spacious 10.2-inch infotainment display with wireless smartphone integration, perfect for long family road trips. The air conditioning system is specifically engineered for high-ambient temperatures, featuring dedicated rear cooling zones to keep all three rows comfortable in the peak of summer. Perforated leather seating with Brandy-colored accents provides a unique, premium atmosphere that distinguishes the AT4 cabin from more basic family trims.

Safety

Standard safety equipment includes the GMC Pro Safety Plus suite, featuring Forward Collision Mitigation and Lane Departure Warning to assist during long highway commutes. The AT4 further adds front and rear park assist and a high-definition rearview camera, which are essential for maneuvering a vehicle of this size in busy urban areas like Dubai or Doha. Blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert provide vital layers of protection when navigating fast-moving multi-lane traffic.

The bottom line

This Yukon AT4 is the ideal match for a GCC family that demands premium interior tech and desert-ready capability without the higher maintenance overhead of the Denali's 6.2L engine.
