Summary

This 2023 Hongqi EHS9 Comfort represents a unique entry point into the flagship luxury EV market, offering immense road presence and a three-row layout that rivals premium European marques at a more accessible value. As a 3-year-old vehicle in the silver finish, it occupies a high-demand niche for pre-owned electric SUVs in the GCC, where the neutral color significantly aids long-term resale stability. With 543 hp and standard all-wheel drive, it delivers effortless highway performance suitable for inter-emirate travel. The Comfort trim is specifically designed for large families, balancing high-tech digital cockpits with a practical 7-seat configuration. For a GCC buyer, the primary consideration is the growing but still UAE-centric service network, making this an ideal choice for urban-based owners seeking a statement vehicle with zero tailpipe emissions.

This Car vs Other 2023 EHS9s

In the GCC used market, a 3-year-old electric SUV is typically evaluated on its battery health and charging history rather than just the odometer. This silver example sits in the most popular resale color bracket for the region, ensuring it remains more liquid than bolder or matte alternatives. Given that the average GCC annual mileage often exceeds 20,000 km, this EHS9 offers a modern mechanical platform that handles high-speed highway commuting between Dubai and Abu Dhabi with greater refinement than smaller EV crossovers.

Comfort vs Lower Trims

The Comfort trim serves as the robust foundation of the EHS9 lineup, providing the essential 7-seat configuration that GCC families prioritize. While it shares the same imposing 5.2-meter footprint as higher variants, it includes essential regional features like ventilated front seats and a panoramic sunroof as standard. It avoids some of the more complex air-suspension systems found in the Flagship trims, which can offer long-term maintenance simplicity for second-hand owners in the local market.

EHS9 vs Segment Rivals

The EHS9 is frequently cross-shopped with the Tesla Model X and Mercedes-Benz EQS SUV, but it leads the segment in pure physical scale and 'VIP' road presence. Its 5,209 mm length provides a more traditional SUV silhouette compared to the aerodynamic shapes of European rivals, offering better third-row headroom for adult passengers. For the GCC buyer, the Hongqi provides a levels of interior material opulence—including extensive leather and multi-screen interfaces—that typically requires a much higher investment in German competitors.

Running Costs & Resale

Real-world energy consumption in the GCC typically averages around 20.6 kWh/100 km, though this can increase during peak summer months when the dual-zone climate control works at maximum capacity. Hongqi's authorized service centers are well-established across major UAE cities, providing reliable support for the high-voltage systems. Depreciation for premium Chinese EVs in the GCC has stabilized as the brand gains trust, typically retaining value better than unproven EV startups due to the strong backing of the FAW Group.

Performance & Capability

With a verified 543 hp and a 0–100 km/h time of 6.5 seconds, this full-size SUV offers surprising agility for its 2.6-ton curb weight. The dual-motor All Wheel Drive system provides confident traction on gravel access roads or during occasional heavy rain on UAE highways. It reaches a governed top speed of 200 km/h, ensuring it never feels underpowered during high-speed overtaking maneuvers in fast-moving traffic.

Comfort & Cabin

The cabin is optimized for the GCC climate, featuring powerful air conditioning and ventilated seating to combat summer temperatures. The 7-seat layout is versatile, with easy access to a third row that is genuinely usable for teenagers or short adult trips. Acoustic glass and high-quality insulation keep the interior whisper-quiet, isolating passengers from road noise during long desert highway stretches.

Safety

Standard safety equipment on the Comfort trim is extensive, featuring a full ADAS suite including Forward Collision Warning, Lane Keeping Assist, and Blind Spot Monitoring. For navigating tight parking spaces in Dubai or Riyadh, the 360-degree camera system is essential given the vehicle's large dimensions. The EHS9 also includes a comprehensive airbag system and high-strength steel construction for maximum passenger protection.

The bottom line

This silver EHS9 is the perfect opportunity for a UAE-based family to step into a flagship electric SUV that looks and feels like a million-dirham vehicle for a fraction of the cost.
