Summary

This 2023 Grand Cherokee L Limited represents a compelling opportunity in the GCC market, offering the desirable three-row configuration with the proven 3.6L Pentastar V6. With mileage under 40,000 km, it sits well below the typical average for a two-year-old SUV in this region, ensuring significant mechanical longevity. The Grey exterior is a highly sought-after, neutral shade in the UAE and Saudi Arabia, providing excellent heat reflection and stronger resale prospects than darker tones. As a Limited trim, it strikes the ideal balance between premium tech and long-term reliability for families. The combination of GCC specifications and recent model year makes this a turnkey choice for those prioritizing dealer support and warranty peace of mind.

This Car vs Other 2023 Grand Cherokees

At 38,000 km, this vehicle has been driven approximately 19,000 km per year, which is significantly lower than the GCC annual average of 25,000 km for large family SUVs. The Grey exterior is a top-tier choice for the local market, maintaining its finish better under intense UV exposure and holding higher residual value than non-standard colors. Choosing this low-mileage GCC-spec model ensures easier access to authorized service history and local warranty benefits.

LIMITED vs Lower Trims

The Limited trim significantly upgrades the ownership experience over the base Laredo by adding essential GCC comforts like Capri leatherette seating and a power liftgate. It introduces a superior 10.1-inch Uconnect 5 touchscreen with navigation and a nine-speaker Alpine audio system that outclasses the standard six-speaker setup. Safety is also enhanced with features like a remote start system, which is invaluable for pre-cooling the cabin during the peak summer months.

Grand Cherokee vs Segment Rivals

When compared to the Toyota Prado or Ford Explorer, the Grand Cherokee L stands out with its more sophisticated unibody construction, offering superior on-road refinement for highway commutes between Emirates. Its 87-litre fuel tank provides an excellent cruising range for long-distance desert drives, and the dedicated third-row climate vents ensure all seven passengers remain comfortable in extreme heat. The 293 hp V6 provides a more linear and reliable power delivery than the smaller turbocharged engines found in some rivals.

Running Costs & Resale

The 3.6L Pentastar engine is widely regarded across the GCC for its durability and straightforward maintenance, with an extensive network of authorized service centers available from Dubai to Muscat. Real-world fuel consumption typically averages 11-13 L/100km in mixed GCC conditions, depending on city traffic and highway cruising. As a 7-seater SUV with GCC specs, it follows a more stable depreciation curve than American-spec imports, typically retaining about 55-60% of its value after three years.

Performance & Capability

The 293 hp V6 engine provides smooth, confident acceleration for highway overtaking and is paired with a robust 8-speed automatic transmission. Its 2,812 kg towing capacity makes it one of the most capable in the mid-size segment for hauling trailers or jet skis. While primarily a refined road-goer, the all-wheel-drive system and selectable terrain modes provide the necessary traction for weekend beach trips or light gravel trails commonly found across the region.

Comfort & Cabin

The cabin is specifically designed for large families, featuring a 2-3-2 seating layout with a genuinely usable third row for adults. Triple-zone automatic climate control is a standard highlight, allowing the driver, front passenger, and rear occupants to manage their own cooling levels independently. Acoustic windshield glass and active noise cancellation create a whisper-quiet environment, protecting passengers from both external heat and high-speed road noise during long trans-emirate journeys.

Safety

This Limited trim is equipped with a comprehensive safety suite, including Full-Speed Forward Collision Warning with Active Braking and Adaptive Cruise Control, which is essential for maintaining safety on fast-moving GCC highways. Blind Spot Monitoring and Rear Cross Path Detection provide vital assistance in heavy urban traffic, while the standard ParkSense system with rear park assist makes navigating tight mall parking spots effortless. Seven advanced airbags and a high-strength steel chassis ensure top-tier protection for all occupants.

The bottom line

This is the ideal choice for a GCC family looking for a premium, low-mileage 7-seater that offers significantly more luxury than a base-spec SUV without the high maintenance of European brands.
