Summary

This 2023 Kia Seltos EX is a standout choice for urban commuters and small families, offering a modern aesthetic in a high-visibility red that holds its own in the local resale market. With just under 39,000 km, it has been driven efficiently for its age within the GCC context, avoiding the high-mileage wear often seen on cross-emirate commuters. The 2.0L powertrain provides a smooth, reliable drive that is perfectly suited for both stop-start city traffic in Riyadh or Dubai and steady highway cruising. Kia's reputation for reliability and its massive service footprint across the region make this a low-risk, high-reward investment. For a buyer looking for a stylish crossover that balances feature-rich interiors with sensible running costs, this GCC-spec EX trim is currently in its prime buying window.

This Car vs Other 2023 Seltos

With 38,591 km on the odometer, this Seltos sits well below the typical GCC annual average of 25,000 km, representing a vehicle that has likely seen light daily use rather than heavy cross-country trekking. The vibrant red exterior is a rare but popular choice that offers a distinctive look while maintaining a stable resale profile compared to common white or silver models. Being a 2023 model, it benefits from the latest pre-facelift refinements, ensuring mechanical maturity and proven reliability.

EX vs Lower Trims

The EX trim is a significant step up from the base LX, introducing essential features for the GCC climate such as a power sunroof and upgraded SynTex upholstery which handles heat better than standard cloth. It also adds critical technology like a larger 10.25-inch touchscreen with integrated navigation and a wireless phone charger, features that are highly valued by tech-forward drivers in the region. The addition of a power-adjustable driver's seat and heated front mirrors ensures a more premium daily driving experience.

Seltos vs Segment Rivals

The Seltos leads competitors like the Hyundai Creta and Nissan Kicks by offering a more aggressive, SUV-like stance and a cabin that feels a segment larger. Its 2.0L engine provides a more relaxed highway experience than the smaller displacements found in some rivals, while the smartly packaged interior offers superior rear legroom for family duties. The strength of Kia's 5-year regional warranty support remains a deciding factor against newer entrants in the subcompact crossover space.

Running Costs & Resale

Expect a combined fuel consumption of approximately 6.9L/100km, which translates well to GCC driving where highway stints help offset city idling. Maintenance is straightforward with 10,000 km service intervals, and Kia's massive parts availability ensures that out-of-warranty repairs remain affordable compared to European alternatives. The Seltos retains roughly 75-80% of its value after two years in the GCC, making it one of the strongest performers in the subcompact SUV segment for value retention.

Performance & Capability

The 2.0-liter naturally aspirated engine delivers a verified 147 hp and 179 Nm of torque, providing linear power delivery that is ideal for navigating fast-moving multi-lane highways. The Intelligent Variable Transmission (IVT) is tuned for efficiency, keeping RPMs low during cruising to minimize cabin noise and vibration. While primarily a road-focused crossover, the FWD Seltos handles gravel tracks and sandy parking areas with ease thanks to its generous ground clearance, making it a capable companion for beach trips or weekend outings.

Comfort & Cabin

The interior is designed for the Gulf's high-temperature environment, featuring a robust air conditioning system with dedicated rear vents to keep all five passengers cool. The EX trim's SynTex leatherette seats offer a durable and premium feel that is easy to maintain despite dust and sand ingress. With 433 liters of boot space, it accommodates large grocery hauls or weekend luggage comfortably, while the acoustic windshield helps isolate the cabin from wind noise during high-speed highway travel.

Safety

Safety is a priority in the EX trim, which comes standard with Blind-Spot Collision-Avoidance Assist and Rear Cross-Traffic Alert—essential for the fast-paced driving conditions on the E11 or Sheikh Mohammed Bin Zayed Road. The suite also includes Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist with pedestrian detection and Lane Keeping Assist to ensure maximum security on long desert drives. Multiple airbags and a high-strength steel chassis provide peace of mind for family transport.

The bottom line

Perfect for the young professional or small family, this low-mileage Seltos EX offers the ideal blend of GCC-ready features and proven Kia reliability in a standout color.
