Summary

This 2023 Kia Seltos LX is a standout choice for urban commuters and small families in the GCC, offering a practical balance of modern styling and exceptional efficiency. Finished in Grey, a neutral color with historically strong resale appeal in the region, this crossover avoids the high depreciation of flashier shades. While many rivals in this segment rely on smaller turbocharged engines, the Seltos uses a reliable 1.6-litre naturally aspirated engine built to withstand extreme summer heat. With a mileage of 65,000 km, it has been driven regularly across the UAE's highway network and remains well within its mechanical prime. For a buyer seeking a hassle-free ownership experience supported by one of the region’s largest service footprints, this GCC-spec LX trim is a smart, low-risk investment.

This Car vs Other 2023 Kia Seltoses

With 65,000 km on the odometer, this Seltos sits slightly above the regional average for a one-year-old vehicle but reflects typical highway usage between emirates. The Grey exterior is a significant advantage in the GCC market, as it hides dust effectively and remains a top choice for second-hand buyers. Being a GCC-spec model, it features the cooling and filtration systems necessary for local longevity compared to grey-market imports.

LX vs Lower Trims

As the foundational trim for the Seltos in the GCC, the LX includes essential features that regional buyers prioritize, such as rear parking sensors and a multi-angle rearview camera. Unlike base models in other markets, this GCC LX trim comes equipped with an 8-inch touchscreen featuring Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, ensuring modern connectivity is standard. It also includes rear AC vents, a critical feature for passenger comfort during peak summer months.

Seltos vs Segment Rivals

When compared to the Hyundai Creta and Nissan Kicks, the Seltos offers a more sophisticated interior design and superior cargo flexibility with its dual-level luggage floor. It leads the segment in terms of widespread parts availability and service center accessibility across all seven emirates and the wider GCC. The 1.6-litre powertrain is specifically tuned for the region, offering better durability in stop-start traffic than some turbocharged competitors.

Running Costs & Resale

The 1.6-litre engine delivers a manufacturer-claimed 16.3 km/L, making it one of the most economical non-hybrid SUVs for daily Dubai or Riyadh commutes. Kia's massive authorized network ensures that service intervals, typically every 10,000 km, are affordable and convenient to maintain. The Seltos maintains high value retention in the UAE used market, typically depreciating at a slower rate than its European counterparts due to its reputation for mechanical reliability.

Performance & Capability

The 123 hp engine provides smooth, predictable power that is ideal for navigating fast-moving highway traffic and urban intersections. While designed primarily for the road, the 190 mm ground clearance allows it to handle gravel paths and speed breakers with ease, making it suitable for weekend trips to more rural areas. The six-speed automatic transmission is refined, avoiding the rubber-band feel often associated with CVTs found in other compact crossovers.

Comfort & Cabin

Inside, the Seltos LX offers a surprisingly roomy cabin for five adults, featuring high-quality woven cloth seats that stay cooler in the sun than leather alternatives. The air conditioning system is specifically engineered for the Middle East, providing rapid cabin cooling even after the car has been parked in direct sunlight. With 433 litres of boot space, it easily accommodates large grocery hauls or luggage for a weekend getaway to Ras Al Khaimah.

Safety

Safety is well-handled with standard features including Anti-lock Braking System (ABS), Electronic Stability Control (ESC), and Hill-start Assist Control (HAC), which is particularly useful in multi-story parking garages. This trim includes dual front airbags and a Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS) to alert you to changes caused by the intense local heat. The reinforced body structure and ISOFIX child seat anchors make it a secure choice for young families.

The bottom line

This GCC-spec Kia Seltos is the ideal match for a pragmatist who values fuel economy and long-term reliability over unnecessary frills. It represents a worry-free entry into SUV ownership with a service network that covers you from Kuwait to Oman.
