Summary

This 2023 Kia Sorento EX is a standout family choice, offering a balanced 2.5-litre powertrain that is highly regarded for its reliability in the region's climate. With 41,000 km, the mileage is slightly below the typical GCC average for a two-year-old vehicle, suggesting careful ownership and plenty of life remaining. The black exterior is a perennial favorite for resale in the UAE and wider Gulf, ensuring strong value retention when you decide to upgrade. It bridges the gap between compact crossovers and full-sized SUVs, providing seven-seater utility without the cumbersome footprint of a larger vehicle. For the GCC buyer, this Sorento offers the peace of mind that comes with one of the most robust service networks across the Emirates and Saudi Arabia.

This Car vs Other 2023 Sorentos

At 41,000 km, this Sorento sits comfortably below the 50,000 km mark often seen on 2023 models used for cross-emirate commutes. This lower-than-average mileage makes it a compelling mechanical prospect in the local used market. The black finish remains a top-three resale color in the GCC, helping it maintain a higher valuation than less conventional shades.

EX vs Lower Trims

The EX trim provides a significant technology leap over the LX and S grades, most notably replacing the standard 8-inch screen with a premium 10.25-inch high-resolution display featuring native navigation. It also adds the Smart Power Tailgate and keyless entry with remote start—features that are essential for convenience in the summer heat. You also benefit from enhanced safety tech like Smart Cruise Control and Highway Driving Assist, which are often absent on base models.

Sorento vs Segment Rivals

The Sorento is often cross-shopped with the Hyundai Santa Fe and Toyota Highlander. While rivals offer similar seating, the Sorento leads with its intuitive infotainment interface and a more modern interior design language for the 2023 model year. Its 67-litre fuel tank provides a generous range, making it better suited for long-distance desert highway drives than many smaller-tanked competitors.

Running Costs & Resale

With a combined fuel consumption of approximately 7.8L/100km, the 2.5-litre engine is efficient for a seven-seater in GCC stop-start traffic. Kia enjoys a strong reputation for durability in the Middle East, with authorized service centers widely available across the UAE, Saudi Arabia, and Oman. Historically, the Sorento retains roughly 60-65% of its value after three years in the GCC, performing competitively against its Japanese counterparts.

Performance & Capability

The 180 hp 2.5-litre engine is paired with a smooth 6-speed automatic transmission, delivering a 0-100 km/h time of approximately 10.3 seconds. While designed for efficiency, the Front Wheel Drive setup provides predictable handling for urban environments and high-speed highway cruising between cities. The suspension is tuned for comfort, effectively soaking up road imperfections during long family road trips across the emirates.

Comfort & Cabin

The cabin is designed for GCC family life, featuring seven seats with a slide-and-recline second row for easier access to the back. A powerful dual-zone automatic climate control system ensures the interior stays cool even in 45°C+ summer peaks, supported by dedicated rear air vents. When all seats are stowed, the cargo volume expands significantly, though it maintains a practical 179 litres of space even with the third row in use.

Safety

Safety is a primary focus for the EX trim, which comes standard with Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist and Junction Turning Detection. The suite includes Blind-Spot Collision-Avoidance and Lane Keeping Assist, which are particularly valuable on fast-moving multi-lane highways like Sheikh Zayed Road. Additionally, Safe Exit Assist helps protect passengers from approaching traffic when opening doors in busy urban areas.

The bottom line

Perfect for the growing family that needs three rows of seating and modern tech without sacrificing fuel efficiency or resale security. This low-mileage EX trim represents a smart buy for someone looking for a nearly-new SUV experience at a pre-owned value point.
