Summary

This 3-year-old Kia Telluride SX offers a premium family transport experience, balancing rugged American presence with refined cabin technology. The SX trim is a significant leap forward, providing near-luxury features like the Harman Kardon audio system and dual panoramic screens that define the 2023 model year refresh. With a white exterior—a high-demand, high-resale color in the GCC—this SUV is perfectly suited for the region's climate and resale market. It stands out in the crowded three-row segment by offering adult-sized room in every row and a smooth V6 powertrain that handles UAE highways with ease. For the family buyer, the combination of safety, space, and strong local parts availability makes this a highly sensible long-term investment.

This Car vs Other 2023 Tellurides

With 53,417 km on the odometer, this vehicle sits slightly below the typical GCC annual average of 20,000–25,000 km, representing a well-utilized but fresh example for its age. The white exterior is the most preferred color in the local market, ensuring it stays cooler in the summer heat and maintains peak resale value compared to darker alternatives. As a 2023 model, it benefits from the major mid-cycle refresh, including the modern digital cockpit that older 2022 models lack.

SX vs Lower Trims

The SX trim elevates the Telluride experience by adding dual 12.3-inch panoramic displays and a 10-speaker Harman Kardon premium audio system, features often found only in German luxury rivals. It replaces the standard second-row bench with premium captain’s chairs, providing a more executive 7-seat layout that GCC families prefer for long-distance comfort. Additionally, the SX includes a 360-degree Surround View Monitor and Blind-Spot View Monitor, which are invaluable for navigating tight mall parking and multi-lane highway traffic.

Telluride vs Segment Rivals

When compared to the Honda Pilot or Ford Explorer, the Telluride leads with its more upscale interior materials and superior third-row legroom, which is genuinely usable for adults. Its 3.8L V6 is a proven, naturally aspirated unit that avoids the complexity of smaller turbocharged rivals, offering smoother power delivery for the long highway hauls between Emirates. The Kia also holds its value exceptionally well in the UAE market, rivaling the depreciation curves of established Japanese segment leaders.

Running Costs & Resale

Real-world fuel consumption for this V6 powertrain typically averages 11.4 L/100km, performing efficiently during steady highway cruising at 120 km/h. Kia's authorized service network is extensive across the UAE, Saudi Arabia, and Oman, ensuring easy maintenance and parts availability. As an American-spec vehicle, buyers should verify service history, though the Telluride's global reputation for reliability remains a strong factor in its 8-10% annual depreciation rate, which is among the lowest for its class in the GCC.

Performance & Capability

The 291 hp V6 engine provides a 0-100 km/h time of approximately 7.2 seconds, ensuring confident overtaking on fast-moving highways like the E11. With a maximum braked towing capacity of 2,268 kg, it is fully capable of hauling jet skis or small campers for weekend trips to the coast. The 8-speed automatic transmission is tuned for comfort, providing seamless shifts that minimize cabin disruption even when fully loaded with seven passengers.

Comfort & Cabin

Designed for the hottest climates, the Telluride features a robust air conditioning system with dedicated vents for all three rows, ensuring rear passengers remain comfortable in 45°C+ temperatures. The SX trim includes ventilated front seats and dual sunroofs, which significantly brighten the cabin without compromising thermal insulation. The interior is focused on silence, with acoustic windshield glass that keeps highway wind noise to a minimum during cross-border road trips.

Safety

This Telluride is equipped with a comprehensive ADAS suite including Highway Driving Assist, which combines adaptive cruise control and lane-centering for effortless long-distance driving. Standard safety features include Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist, 9 airbags, and a 360-degree camera system that provides total visibility in congested city environments. The Blind-Spot View Monitor, which displays a live video feed in the digital cluster, is a standout feature that provides a significant safety advantage on multi-lane GCC highways.

The bottom line

This 2023 Telluride SX is the ideal choice for a tech-focused family looking for luxury-tier features and high resale security in a white-on-white GCC-friendly package.
