Summary

This 2026 Kia Sorento EX FOP presents a compelling opportunity for GCC families seeking a balance of power and multi-passenger utility. Equipped with the smooth 3.5-litre V6 engine and All-Wheel Drive, it offers superior highway overtaking capability compared to the base four-cylinder models. The white exterior is the most practical choice for the region, reflecting heat effectively and ensuring the highest possible resale demand in the UAE and Saudi markets. As a GCC-spec vehicle, it is fully optimized for extreme summer temperatures with a robust cooling system and local warranty compatibility. For the proactive buyer, this trim delivers the essential tech and space required for long-distance cross-border drives without the steeper depreciation of flagship luxury segments.

This Car vs Other 2026 Sorentos

While many Sorentos in the GCC market utilize the 2.5-litre engine, this V6 variant is preferred for long-distance highway travel between emirates. The white exterior remains the strongest resale color in the region, offering a significant advantage in both cooling efficiency and future trade-in value. Given its recent model year, it benefits from the latest design refinements and safety tech standard on the MQ4 generation.

EX FOP vs Lower Trims

The EX FOP trim adds critical upgrades over the LX and S variants, most notably the larger 12.3-inch touchscreen and digital cockpit that modernize the cabin experience. It also includes 20-inch alloy wheels and enhanced LED lighting which provide a more premium road presence. For GCC families, the inclusion of more advanced driver assistance features like Blind-Spot Collision-Avoidance is a vital addition for fast-moving highway traffic.

Sorento vs Segment Rivals

Compared to the Toyota Highlander or Hyundai Santa Fe, the Sorento often leads on interior tech-to-price ratio, offering a more contemporary digital interface. Its 3.5-litre V6 provides a traditional naturally aspirated power delivery that many GCC buyers prefer for long-term reliability over smaller turbocharged rivals. The seating configuration is specifically praised for its ease of access, making it a more practical daily driver for those using the third row frequently.

Running Costs & Resale

The 3.5L V6 typically averages around 10.3 L/100km in combined GCC driving conditions, though city consumption will rise in stop-start Dubai or Riyadh traffic. Service intervals are recommended every 10,000 km at authorized Kia centers, which are widely available across the UAE, Saudi Arabia, and Oman. Kia’s growing brand reputation in the region has stabilized depreciation, with GCC-spec Sorentos holding value exceptionally well compared to American-spec imports.

Performance & Capability

With 272 hp and 335 Nm of torque, this Sorento is built for confident highway cruising and can handle light desert tracks thanks to its All-Wheel Drive system. The 8-speed automatic transmission is tuned for smoothness, providing effortless power when merging into high-speed traffic. While not a dedicated off-roader, its selectable drive modes allow for extra traction on sand or gravel during weekend family outings.

Comfort & Cabin

The seven-seat layout features a flexible second row that slides for improved third-row legroom, a crucial factor for large families. High-output air conditioning with dedicated rear vents ensures the cabin remains cool even during 45°C summer peaks. The EX FOP trim further enhances comfort with synthetic leather upholstery and acoustic glass that significantly reduces wind noise during long highway stints.

Safety

This trim is equipped with Kia’s Drive Wise suite, featuring Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist, Lane Keeping Assist, and Rear Cross-Traffic Collision-Avoidance. These systems are particularly valuable on multi-lane GCC highways where high speeds and frequent lane changes are common. The vehicle also features a comprehensive airbag system and a high-strength chassis that earned it a top safety rating in global testing.

The bottom line

This GCC-spec Sorento V6 is the ideal choice for a family looking for a nearly-new 7-seater that balances regional performance needs with high resale security. It represents a smart alternative to more expensive luxury SUVs, providing the same modern tech and safety with lower long-term maintenance costs.
