Summary

This S500 4MATIC L represents a sophisticated entry into the flagship luxury segment, balancing athletic performance with unparalleled rear-cabin comfort. With a smooth inline-six engine and the grip of all-wheel drive, it delivers effortless highway cruising across the Emirates. The black exterior is a premier choice for the local market, ensuring strong resale demand and a timeless executive presence. As a three-year-old vehicle with moderate mileage, it offers a significant value advantage over new models while retaining its cutting-edge technological suite. For a GCC buyer, this sedan provides the prestige of the S-Class nameplate with a more efficient powertrain ideal for daily commuting.

This Car vs Other 2023 S500s

With 51,884 km on the odometer, this sedan has been driven roughly 17,000 km per year, which is significantly lower than the GCC average of 20,000–25,000 km. This lower-than-expected usage makes it a highly attractive option for buyers seeking a well-maintained flagship. The black exterior is the most sought-after color in the regional used market, further bolstering its future trade-in value.

4MATIC L vs Lower Trims

As a 4MATIC L model, this vehicle features the extended wheelbase for superior rear legroom and the confidence of all-wheel drive for high-speed stability. It comes standard with ventilated and massaging front seats, a Burmester 3D surround sound system, and soft-close doors—luxuries that are often optional on standard-wheelbase variants. The integration of the 48V mild-hybrid system provides smoother stop-start transitions in heavy Dubai or Riyadh traffic compared to older powertrains.

S500 vs Segment Rivals

The S500 leads the BMW 7 Series and Audi A8 in cabin insulation and ride quality, thanks to its standard AIRMATIC air suspension. Its MBUX infotainment system with a 12.8-inch OLED screen is widely considered the most intuitive interface in the segment. Additionally, the Mercedes 3.0L engine offers a more refined power delivery than many rivals' base units, making it a favorite for long-distance cruising between cities.

Running Costs & Resale

Real-world fuel consumption for this mild-hybrid powertrain typically averages around 9.5 to 10.5 L/100km, offering a more economical alternative to the V8-powered S580. Service intervals are generally every 15,000 km or one year, and the extensive Mercedes-Benz authorized network across the UAE and Saudi Arabia ensures easy maintenance. While American spec cars generally see higher depreciation than GCC spec models, the S-Class remains a high-demand vehicle that retains value better than smaller luxury sedans.

Performance & Capability

The turbocharged 3.0L inline-six produces a verified 435 hp, enabling a 0–100 km/h sprint in just 4.9 seconds—surprising speed for a long-wheelbase limousine. The 4MATIC all-wheel-drive system ensures maximum traction during rare rain events or on sandy highway shoulders. With five selectable drive modes, the car can transform from a soft, wafting cruiser to a responsive performer for overtaking on the E11.

Comfort & Cabin

The cabin is designed as a sanctuary from the intense GCC heat, featuring a high-performance climate control system and IR-reflecting laminated glass. The long-wheelbase configuration provides vast space for rear passengers, complemented by active ambient lighting that adjusts to the time of day. Premium leather upholstery and a panoramic sunroof create an open, airy environment that remains whisper-quiet even at highway speeds.

Safety

This S-Class is equipped with a comprehensive ADAS suite including Active Distance Assist DISTRONIC, which is essential for long desert highway drives. It features active blind-spot monitoring and lane-keeping assist to navigate fast-moving multi-lane traffic safely. The standard 360-degree camera system makes parking this large executive sedan effortless in tight urban environments.

The bottom line

This 2023 S500 is a perfect match for the professional seeking executive prestige and lower-than-average mileage in a classic color combination. It offers the full flagship experience with a modern, efficient powertrain that makes sense for the daily GCC commute.
