Summary

This 2023 Mitsubishi Montero Sport in its top-tier GLS PREMIUM trim represents one of the most practical and value-retaining SUV options currently available in the GCC. With a robust 3.0L V6 engine and a proper four-wheel-drive system, it strikes a rare balance between a comfortable daily family hauler and a weekend-ready desert companion. The mileage is perfectly aligned with the high-utilization nature of GCC lifestyle, where these vehicles are prized for their ability to handle long cross-country journeys with ease. Finished in a professional and heat-reflective Grey, this specific listing is highly desirable in the regional used market where neutral tones hold their value best. Unlike many modern crossovers that use car-based platforms, this model retains a rugged chassis that is built to withstand the extreme temperatures and varied terrains of the Middle East. For a buyer seeking a modern, seven-seater SUV that is still under its prime operational window, this vehicle offers a significant saving over a showroom-new model without sacrificing the peace of mind associated with Japanese engineering. It stands out in its segment for offering genuine off-road hardware—including a low-range transfer case—at a price point where most rivals only offer basic all-wheel drive.

This Car vs Other 2023 Montero Sports

When comparing this 2023 unit to others on the market, the primary advantage is its GCC-spec pedigree and the comprehensive GLS PREMIUM feature set. In the GCC, average annual mileage typically falls between 20,000 and 25,000 km, placing this vehicle’s 80,115 km right in the expected sweet spot for a two-year-old vehicle that has been used as intended for regional travel. The Grey exterior is a strategic choice for the UAE and surrounding markets; it hides desert dust remarkably well while absorbing less heat than black or dark blue alternatives, which directly impacts the efficiency of the air conditioning. Buyers will find that this car has been kept in its original regional configuration, ensuring that all cooling systems and filtration are optimized for the local climate. Choosing a 2023 model ensures you are getting the most refined version of this generation, with the latest infotainment updates and interior material improvements that weren't present in earlier production years. It represents a mature purchase where the initial steep depreciation has already occurred, providing the second owner with a much more stable asset.

GLS PREMIUM vs Lower Trims

Stepping up to the GLS PREMIUM trim is a decision most GCC buyers find pays for itself at the time of resale, as the high-demand features are concentrated here. This trim adds a layer of sophistication and technology that is notably absent in the GLX or standard GLS variants, including the upgraded leather upholstery and more advanced driver-interface displays. One of the most critical additions for the local market is the premium dual-zone climate control system, which is specifically tuned to maintain a frosty cabin even when the outside temperature exceeds 45°C. You also benefit from the power-adjustable seating and an enhanced 8-inch smartphone-link display audio system that integrates seamlessly with modern devices. The exterior is further distinguished by larger, more aggressive alloy wheels and LED lighting signatures that give the car a much more modern presence on the road. Safety and convenience also get a major boost in the PREMIUM grade, featuring the 360-degree Multi-Around Monitor which is indispensable for navigating tight parking spots in Dubai or Riyadh.

Montero Sport vs Segment Rivals

The Montero Sport occupies a unique position when compared to rivals like the Toyota Fortuner or the Ford Everest. While the Fortuner is known for its utilitarian ruggedness, this Mitsubishi offers a significantly more compliant ride thanks to its sophisticated rear suspension setup, making it a better choice for families who spend 90% of their time on tarmac. Against the Ford Everest, the Mitsubishi wins on long-term reliability and the sheer density of the authorized service network across the entire GCC, from Muscat to Kuwait City. Its 3.0L V6 engine is a proven, naturally aspirated powerplant that local mechanics know inside and out, unlike the more complex turbocharged four-cylinder engines found in some American or European competitors. Furthermore, the Super Select 4WD-II system in this car is often considered superior to its rivals, allowing the driver to switch between 2WD and 4WD at speeds up to 100 km/h, which is a massive convenience on changing road surfaces. The interior packaging also feels more car-like and ergonomic than many of its truck-based competitors, offering a lower step-in height that is easier for children and elderly passengers.

Running Costs & Resale

Ownership of a Mitsubishi in the GCC is synonymous with predictability and affordability. The 3.0L V6 petrol engine is designed to run efficiently on standard 95-octane fuel available at any ENOC or ADNOC station, with real-world fuel consumption averaging around 10.5 to 11.5 L/100km on long highway stretches. Maintenance intervals are typically every 10,000 km, and because parts are shared across many Mitsubishi platforms, the cost of consumables like filters and brake pads is among the lowest in the SUV segment. Resale value for the Montero Sport remains exceptionally high in the UAE and Saudi markets, typically seeing only an 8-10% annual depreciation compared to the 15% plus seen in European SUVs. The presence of a vast authorized service network ensures that even if you relocate within the region, your vehicle's warranty and service history remain intact and recognized. As a GCC-spec vehicle, it retains the highest possible value for local buyers, as it circumvents the insurance and registration hurdles often associated with imported American or Japanese-spec cars.

Performance & Capability

Performance in this SUV is defined by its versatile Super Select 4WD-II system, which provides four distinct driving modes to tackle everything from rain-slicked highways to deep desert sands. The 3.0L V6 engine delivers smooth, linear power that is perfect for overtaking on the E11 or E311 highways, where maintaining pace is essential for safety. With a generous ground clearance of 218 mm, this vehicle can easily navigate moderate dunes and rocky wadis during weekend excursions without risk of underbody damage. The 8-speed automatic transmission is a standout feature, providing much smoother shifts and better fuel economy at high speeds than the 6-speed units found in many competitors. It also boasts a respectable towing capacity, making it suitable for hauling small boats or jet ski trailers to the coast. Whether you are navigating the stop-and-go traffic of downtown Riyadh or exploring the mountain roads of Hatta, the powertrain remains composed, quiet, and remarkably thermally efficient.

Comfort & Cabin

Inside, the GLS PREMIUM trim focuses on maximizing family comfort during the intense GCC summers. The seven-seat layout is versatile, with the third row being perfectly adequate for children or short trips for adults, while the second row offers impressive legroom that rivals larger SUVs. A standout feature is the roof-mounted air conditioning vents for the second and third rows, ensuring that cool air is distributed evenly throughout the cabin, even on the hottest July afternoons. The cabin is well-insulated from road noise, providing a serene environment for long-distance trips between Emirates. High-quality soft-touch materials and leather appointments in this trim level elevate the feel of the interior, moving it away from its rugged roots toward a more premium executive feel. The cargo space is also highly adaptable; with the third row folded flat, the boot volume is substantial enough to accommodate a full family's luggage for a week-long road trip across the border.

Safety

Safety is a hallmark of the 2023 Montero Sport, which comes equipped with a comprehensive suite of active and passive systems designed for high-speed regional roads. This GLS PREMIUM model features Forward Collision Mitigation, which is a life-saver in unpredictable highway traffic, and Blind Spot Warning to assist during lane changes on busy multi-lane roads. It also includes the Ultrasonic Misacceleration Mitigation System, which helps prevent accidents in parking lots by detecting obstacles and limiting engine power if the accelerator is pressed suddenly. Seven SRS airbags provide 360-degree protection for all occupants, a feature that is often stripped out of lower-spec or non-GCC models. The Active Stability and Traction Control systems are particularly well-tuned for the region, providing extra grip on sandy patches that often blow across desert highways. This combination of structural integrity and smart tech ensures that the vehicle consistently achieves top-tier safety ratings in international testing.

The bottom line

This 2023 Mitsubishi Montero Sport GLS PREMIUM is the perfect match for a growing family that needs a reliable, feature-packed SUV capable of handling both the daily school run and serious off-road adventures. It offers the best balance of modern technology and legendary Japanese durability available in the GCC market today.
