Summary

This 2023 Nissan Altima S offers a practical entry point into the mid-size sedan segment, combining modern styling with a reputation for long-term mechanical durability. With 55,000 km on the odometer, its mileage is exactly on par for a three-year-old vehicle in the GCC, reflecting typical highway-focused usage between emirates. The white exterior is the most strategic choice for the region, providing maximum heat reflection during summer months and securing the highest possible resale demand. It stands out against rivals with its smooth Xtronic CVT that excels in stop-start city traffic, while the 2.5L engine provides a reliable balance of power and efficiency. For a GCC buyer, the widespread availability of parts and specialized service centers makes this one of the most low-risk ownership propositions in the market.

This Car vs Other 2023 Altima S

At 55,000 km, this vehicle sits precisely at the average mileage expected for a three-year-old car in the GCC market, where annual averages of 20,000 km are standard. The white exterior is a major advantage for local resale, as it is the most sought-after color in the UAE and Saudi Arabia due to its heat-resistant properties. Unlike higher-mileage fleet examples, this car maintains the tight mechanical feel expected of a well-maintained private sedan.

S vs Lower Trims

As the foundational trim, the S version focuses on essential reliability while still providing GCC-specific conveniences like remote engine start—a vital feature for cooling the cabin before entry during peak summer. It includes the full Safety Shield 360 suite as standard, which is often a paid extra in base-model competitors. While higher trims add leather and larger screens, the S trim avoids the maintenance complexities of turbocharged engines or larger 19-inch wheels, lowering long-term tire replacement costs.

Altima vs Segment Rivals

The Altima leads segment rivals like the Toyota Camry and Honda Accord in fuel tank capacity, with a 61-litre tank that facilitates long-distance cruising across the UAE or into Oman with fewer stops. Its Zero Gravity seat technology is specifically designed to reduce fatigue on long highway drives, providing a softer, more ergonomic experience than the firmer seating found in the Mazda 6. Additionally, the Altima's air conditioning system is widely regarded in the region for its rapid cooling performance in extreme temperatures.

Running Costs & Resale

Real-world fuel consumption averages around 6.5 L/100km on combined cycles, though highway efficiency can reach even better figures during steady-state cruising. Nissan’s authorized service network is one of the most robust in the GCC, with major facilities in every city ensuring parts are affordable and always in stock. As a three-year-old Japanese sedan in white, this Altima follows a predictable and shallow depreciation curve, typically retaining roughly 70-75% of its value at this stage compared to faster-depreciating European alternatives.

Performance & Capability

The 2.5-litre direct-injection engine delivers a reliable 182 horsepower, providing confident overtaking capability on fast-moving highways like the E11. The Xtronic CVT is tuned for efficiency and smoothness, eliminating the shift-shock found in traditional automatics during heavy traffic. With a top speed of 220 km/h and a 0-100 km/h time of approximately 8.0 seconds, it offers competitive performance for its class without sacrificing daily usability.

Comfort & Cabin

The cabin is configured for five adults, featuring class-leading front legroom and Nissan's signature Zero Gravity seats which are essential for long commutes. The air conditioning system includes dedicated front and rear vents to ensure all passengers remain comfortable during the 45°C summer months. The S trim comes equipped with a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system, Bluetooth streaming, and a quiet cabin insulated against desert wind noise at high speeds.

Safety

Safety is a priority with the standard inclusion of Intelligent Forward Collision Warning and Automatic Emergency Braking, crucial for fast-paced highway driving. Blind-spot warning and rear cross-traffic alert provide essential assistance when navigating multi-lane city roads. The vehicle also features a comprehensive 6-airbag system and a tire pressure monitoring system that is particularly useful for detecting heat-related pressure changes.

The bottom line

This Altima is the ideal choice for a professional or family seeking a reliable, high-resale commuter that is perfectly acclimated to the GCC climate. It represents a safe, value-driven investment with its clean white finish and typical regional mileage.
