Summary

This 2023 Nissan X-Trail S represents the first year of the redesigned fourth-generation model, offering a significant step up in refinement and technology. Finished in Silver, it holds one of the strongest resale positions in the GCC market, especially given its balanced mileage of 51,000 km which is well within typical regional use for a two-year-old SUV. As a GCC-spec vehicle, it is purpose-built to handle extreme summer temperatures with an air conditioning system specifically optimized for the region. For buyers seeking a modern, fuel-efficient family crossover with a proven track record for durability and parts availability, this listing is a highly practical choice.

This Car vs Other 2023 X Trails

With 51,000 km on the odometer, this X-Trail has been driven roughly 25,000 km per year, which aligns perfectly with the GCC average for family commuters. The Silver exterior is a strategic choice for the local market, offering excellent heat reflection and maintaining a higher resale value than bolder colors. Being the redesigned 2023 generation, it benefits from improved chassis rigidity and a more efficient powertrain compared to older 2022 stock.

S vs Lower Trims

As the foundational trim for the new generation, the S trim provides essential modern tech like LED headlamps and a suite of airbags that were optional on older base models. It focuses on mechanical simplicity and ease of maintenance, featuring hard-wearing fabric upholstery that stays cooler than leather in the UAE summer. Crucially, it retains the same 181 hp engine found in higher trims, ensuring no compromise on highway performance.

X Trail vs Segment Rivals

The X-Trail leads its primary rivals, the Toyota RAV4 and Honda CR-V, in terms of sheer modular storage options and boot capacity, offering 585 litres of space. While rivals often demand a premium for their badge, the Nissan provides a larger physical footprint and a wider-reaching service network across the UAE and Saudi Arabia. Its 2.5L engine is specifically tuned for reliable performance on long desert highway stretches between Emirates.

Running Costs & Resale

Fuel efficiency is a standout feature, with a manufacturer-rated 6.2 L/100km combined, making it one of the most economical non-hybrid SUVs in its class for GCC city driving. Service intervals are typically every 10,000 km, supported by a massive network of authorized centers including Arabian Automobiles and Al Masaood, ensuring low long-term maintenance costs. Historically, the X-Trail retains approximately 60-70% of its value over three years in the GCC, outperforming American-made rivals.

Performance & Capability

The 2.5-litre 4-cylinder engine produces 181 hp and 244 Nm of torque, providing smooth acceleration for highway merging and stable cruising at 120 km/h. The Front Wheel Drive configuration in this S trim reduces vehicle weight, directly contributing to its superior fuel economy compared to AWD variants. While not a desert dune basher, its 210mm ground clearance makes it perfectly capable of handling gravel tracks and weekend camping spots.

Comfort & Cabin

The cabin is designed for family practicality with five spacious seats and rear AC vents that are essential for passenger comfort during the peak summer months. It features a quiet, well-insulated interior that filters out road noise during long-distance drives across the UAE. The layout emphasizes ease of use, with tactile controls for the manual climate system and a straightforward infotainment setup that integrates Bluetooth and USB connectivity.

Safety

Safety is a priority in this new generation, featuring a 5-star ANCAP rating and a comprehensive airbag system as standard. Key safety features include Cruise Control for relaxed highway driving, Rear Parking Sensors to navigate tight mall parking spaces, and electronic stability systems designed to maintain traction on sand-dusted road surfaces. The LED lighting signature also ensures maximum visibility during nocturnal desert highway travel.

The bottom line

Perfect for a growing family or a daily commuter, this 2023 X-Trail S offers the benefits of the latest generation at a more accessible price point than the SL trim while retaining Nissan's legendary regional reliability.
