Summary

This 2023 Skywell ET5 Luxury is a compelling entry into the EV market, offering exceptionally low mileage of just 7,000 km in a segment where most used examples have already seen heavy daily commuting. As the Luxury trim, it provides high-end features like ventilated seating and a 360-degree camera system that are essential for maintaining comfort during the intense GCC summers. The Grey exterior is a highly practical choice for the region, hiding dust well and maintaining strong resale appeal. Compared to many compact EV rivals, the ET5 stands out with its mid-size SUV proportions, offering a spacious cabin and a sophisticated digital cockpit. For a buyer looking to transition to electric power without sacrificing family-sized practicality, this near-new example represents a significant saving over original list prices.

This Car vs Other 2023 ET5s

With only 7,000 km on the odometer, this ET5 has covered less than a third of the typical annual mileage for a vehicle in the UAE. Most 2023 models in the market have already surpassed 20,000 km, making this specific listing a rare find that remains in a near-showroom state. The Grey finish is one of the most sought-after neutral tones in the GCC, ensuring it remains a liquid asset at the time of resale.

LUXURY vs Lower Trims

The Luxury trim is a significant step up from the base Comfort grade, adding critical features for the local climate such as ventilated front seats and an upgraded air purification system. It also replaces the standard rearview camera with a comprehensive 360-degree surround-view system, making parking this mid-size SUV much easier in tight urban spaces. Additionally, the Luxury trim features a more premium 8-speaker audio system and expanded ADAS safety tech.

ET5 vs Segment Rivals

The Skywell ET5 competes directly with the BYD Atto 3 and the Volkswagen ID.4, leading its rivals in wheelbase length to provide superior rear legroom for families. Its 12.8-inch central touchscreen is one of the largest in its price bracket, offering a more modern interface than many traditional manufacturer offerings. The inclusion of a patented 'health seat' with a dedicated nap mode is a unique feature not found in competitors, specifically designed for driver rest during long breaks.

Running Costs & Resale

Running costs for the ET5 are remarkably low compared to petrol SUVs, with home charging offering a massive reduction in monthly fuel expenditure. Maintenance is simplified due to the electric powertrain, requiring only basic inspections of brakes, tires, and cabin filters rather than expensive engine services. While Skywell is a newer name in the region, the 8-year or 200,000 km battery warranty typically offered by the distributor provides long-term peace of mind. Resale value for electric SUVs in the UAE is stabilizing as charging infrastructure expands across the Emirates.

Performance & Capability

The 204 hp electric motor delivers a swift 0–100 km/h time of 7.9 seconds, providing the immediate torque necessary for confident highway merging and overtaking on fast-moving roads like the E11. With a 159 mm ground clearance, it easily handles speed bumps and uneven urban surfaces found in developing residential areas. The front-wheel-drive setup is tuned for efficiency and smooth delivery, ensuring a quiet and refined ride even at its 150 km/h top speed.

Comfort & Cabin

The cabin is designed as a sanctuary from the heat, featuring dual-zone climate control with dedicated rear vents to ensure all five passengers stay cool. A massive panoramic sunroof creates an airy feel, while the leather-trimmed seats offer power adjustment for both the driver and front passenger. Technology is at the forefront, with a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster and a sophisticated 'Party Mode' that utilizes the ambient lighting and 8-speaker sound system for entertainment.

Safety

The ET5 Luxury comes equipped with a comprehensive Level 2 ADAS suite, including Adaptive Cruise Control and Lane Departure Warning, which are invaluable for reducing fatigue during long desert highway drives. Standard safety equipment includes six airbags, Electronic Stability Control (ESC), and Tyre Pressure Monitoring (TPMS) to alert the driver to any heat-related pressure changes. The 360-degree camera and front and rear parking sensors provide total visibility in congested city traffic.

The bottom line

For the tech-forward GCC buyer, this low-mileage Skywell ET5 Luxury offers a premium electric SUV experience with the space and features of a much more expensive vehicle.
