Summary

This 2023 Toyota Highlander VXR Hybrid is a standout choice for families seeking long-distance efficiency and top-tier comfort. As the highest trim available in the GCC, it offers a refined cabin experience with premium materials that rivals luxury segment counterparts. Its white exterior is not only a practical choice for the regional climate but also ensures strong resale demand in the UAE market. With mileage that reflects typical highway-heavy usage in the region, it remains a mechanically sound investment backed by Toyota's legendary reliability. For a buyer looking to balance 7-seat utility with industry-leading fuel savings, this VXR represents the peak of its model year.

This Car vs Other 2023 Highlanders

With approximately 63,700 km, this vehicle's usage is consistent with average annual driving patterns in the GCC, where highway commutes between emirates are standard. The white exterior is a strategic advantage for local buyers, providing better heat reflection and maintaining the highest resale value in the secondary market. Compared to typical listings, this GCC-spec VXR offers the most complete set of features intended for regional cooling requirements.

VXR vs Lower Trims

The VXR trim elevates the Highlander experience by adding high-value features not found on the GXR or EXR, most notably the 12.3-inch dual-screen digital cockpit and a 11-speaker JBL premium surround sound system. GCC buyers will particularly appreciate the standard ventilated leather front seats and the panoramic glass roof, which provide a significantly more premium atmosphere. It also includes the full Toyota Safety Sense 2.5+ suite with a 360-degree camera system for easier maneuvering in tight urban spaces.

Highlander vs Segment Rivals

When compared to rivals like the Honda Pilot or Kia Telluride, the Highlander leads significantly in fuel efficiency thanks to its hybrid system, which excels in stop-start traffic in cities like Dubai or Riyadh. While rivals often rely on larger V6 engines, the Highlander offers a massive driving range per tank, making it superior for cross-border trips. Its monocoque chassis provides a more car-like, refined ride on highways compared to more rugged, body-on-frame competitors.

Running Costs & Resale

The hybrid powertrain delivers an impressive official consumption of approximately 6.0 L/100km, which is exceptional for a 7-seat SUV in GCC conditions. Toyota maintains the strongest value retention in the region, with the Highlander historically depreciating at a much slower rate than European or American competitors. Service is seamless across the UAE and wider GCC, with authorized centers in every major city providing affordable and readily available parts.

Performance & Capability

The synergetic hybrid system produces 240 horsepower, providing smooth and quiet acceleration that is ideal for daily school runs and highway cruising. The E-Four all-wheel-drive system uses a dedicated rear electric motor to provide instant traction on slippery surfaces or light sand during weekend outings. With selectable drive modes including Trail and EV, the vehicle adapts its power delivery to maximize efficiency or grip as required by the terrain.

Comfort & Cabin

The VXR cabin is designed for the extreme GCC summer, featuring a powerful tri-zone climate control system with dedicated vents for all three rows and highly effective ventilated front seats. High-quality leather upholstery and soft-touch materials throughout the interior ensure long-distance comfort for all seven passengers. The 12.3-inch touchscreen includes wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, keeping the family connected without the clutter of cables.

Safety

Safety is comprehensive with the standard Toyota Safety Sense 2.5+ suite, featuring Dynamic Radar Cruise Control and Lane Tracing Assist for relaxed highway driving. Blind Spot Monitoring and Rear Cross-Traffic Alert are essential for safety on multi-lane GCC roads, while the 360-degree Panoramic View Monitor provides a clear view of the vehicle's surroundings. The VXR also comes equipped with a full array of seven airbags to protect all occupants.

The bottom line

This Highlander VXR is the perfect match for a GCC family that prioritizes long-term reliability and fuel economy without sacrificing premium features. It offers a rare combination of top-spec luxury and the region's best resale security in one package.
