Toyota Land Cruiser EXR

Highlights

• 110-litre dual fuel tank standard
• Extensive GCC authorised service network
• Strong value retention in the GCC used market

Summary

This Toyota Land Cruiser EXR offers a rare balance of modern LC300 refinement and the bulletproof reliability of the naturally aspirated 4.0L V6. As a GCC-spec model finished in high-demand white, it represents a secure investment with a resale advantage in the local market. While its mileage is typical for a two-year-old vehicle in a region known for long-distance highway commutes, its mechanical simplicity makes it a preferred choice for long-term ownership. This trim provides the essential Land Cruiser DNA—including its legendary 4x4 hardware—without the complexity of turbocharged systems. For the GCC buyer, this is the ultimate dependable workhorse that transitions seamlessly from city traffic to desert weekends.

This Car vs Other 2023 Land Cruisers

With 80,000 km, this vehicle has been driven roughly 40,000 km per year, which is above the global average but aligns with high-usage highway driving common in the UAE and Saudi Arabia. The white exterior is the most sought-after color for Land Cruisers in the GCC, ensuring faster resale and better price protection than darker hues. Mechanically, the 4.0L V6 is often favored over the newer turbos by purists looking for long-term durability in extreme heat.

EXR vs Lower Trims

The EXR serves as the essential gateway to the 300-series, adding key functional upgrades over base fleet versions including 18-inch alloy wheels and a more refined interior finish. It standardizes the 8-inch infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, along with dual-zone climate control featuring dedicated rear vents. Crucially, it retains the full off-road suite including Crawl Control and a center differential lock that more road-biased SUVs lack.

Land Cruiser vs Segment Rivals

Against the Nissan Patrol 4.0L and Chevrolet Tahoe, the Land Cruiser leads in total fuel capacity with its 110-litre dual-tank system, providing superior range for cross-border GCC drives. While rivals might offer more cabin tech, the Toyota’s body-on-frame construction and TNGA-F platform offer a level of off-road articulation and chassis rigidity that remains the benchmark for the desert. Its cooling system is also specifically engineered to maintain peak performance in 50°C summer heat.

Running Costs & Resale

The 4.0L V6 typically averages 9.4 L/100km on the highway, though GCC city traffic will see higher consumption; the engine is notably compatible with local fuel grades across the region. Toyota’s service network is the most extensive in the GCC, with authorized centers in every major city from Muscat to Riyadh, ensuring parts are always available and affordable. Historically, Land Cruisers retain approximately 75-80% of their value over the first three years, significantly outperforming European and American rivals in the local used market.

Performance & Capability

The 271 hp V6 engine provides linear power delivery ideal for managing traction on soft sand dunes and steady cruising on the E11 highway. Equipped with a 6-speed automatic and a full-time 4WD system, the LC300 EXR features a 32-degree approach angle and a 235mm ground clearance to tackle significant obstacles. Its selectable drive modes and Crawl Control system allow even novice off-roaders to navigate challenging terrain with confidence.

Comfort & Cabin

The seven-seat cabin is designed for GCC family logistics, featuring high-output air conditioning that reaches all three rows effectively. Even in the EXR trim, the cabin is well-insulated against road and wind noise, making long drives between emirates noticeably less fatiguing. The flat-folding rear seats allow for a massive cargo area, while the smart entry and push-button start add daily convenience for city use.

Safety

Standard safety equipment includes eight airbags and a comprehensive suite of active stability controls including ABS, Traction Control, and Hill-start Assist. The 300-series platform earned a 5-star ANCAP rating, reflecting its modern structural integrity. For GCC highway driving, the inclusion of front and rear parking sensors and a high-resolution rear-view camera makes maneuvering this full-size SUV in tight city mall parking significantly safer.

The bottom line

For the buyer who prioritizes mechanical reliability and high resale value above all else, this white GCC-spec V6 Land Cruiser is the most logical choice in the current market.
