Summary

This 2023 Toyota Prado EXR is a definitive buy for GCC families looking for a blend of bulletproof reliability and genuine 4x4 capability. With the preferred 4.0L V6 engine, it offers the highway overtaking power and sand-dune performance that the smaller 4-cylinder trims lack. Finished in high-resale White, this specific unit has covered average mileage for the UAE market, ensuring the drivetrain is well-seasoned but far from retirement. The EXR trim provides all the essential off-road hardware including a differential lock, making it equally suited for the school run in Dubai or weekend explorations in the Liwa desert. For a buyer in the Gulf, there is no more secure automotive investment than a V6 Prado.

This Car vs Other 2023 Prados

With 43,000 km, this Prado sits right in the sweet spot of UAE usage, reflecting a vehicle that has been driven regularly on regional highways. The White exterior is the most sought-after color in the GCC used market, maximizing your future resale value and reflecting heat more effectively during the summer months. Compared to high-mileage examples, this unit retains its mechanical tightness while having already bypassed the steepest part of the new-car depreciation curve.

EXR vs Lower Trims

The EXR serves as the essential V6 entry point, offering the full 271 hp output and a 150-litre long-range fuel tank that the 2.7L models lack. It features a rear differential lock and a 9-inch infotainment screen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, bridging the gap between a pure workhorse and a modern family SUV. While higher trims add leather and sunroofs, the EXR focuses on durability with fabric seating that remains cooler under the intense Gulf sun.

Prado vs Segment Rivals

The Prado leads the mid-size SUV segment in the GCC due to its superior 150-litre dual-tank range, allowing for cross-border drives from the UAE to Oman or KSA with fewer stops than a Ford Explorer or Mitsubishi Montero Sport. Its body-on-frame construction provides a level of durability on gravel and sand that monocoque rivals cannot match. Furthermore, its specialized cooling system is specifically engineered to maintain peak engine and AC performance even in 50°C temperatures.

Running Costs & Resale

Real-world fuel consumption for the V6 typically averages 13.5 L/100km in city traffic and can drop to 9.2 L/100km during highway cruising between Emirates. Service intervals are a standard 10,000 km, with one of the most comprehensive authorized service networks stretching across the entire GCC, ensuring parts are always available. The Prado holds its value exceptionally well, typically depreciating at a lower annual rate than European luxury SUVs, making it a highly liquid asset in the local market.

Performance & Capability

The 271 hp 4.0L V6 engine is a regional favorite, providing the necessary torque for heavy sand driving and effortless highway cruising at 120 km/h. With a 210mm ground clearance and a selectable All-Wheel Drive system featuring low-range gearing, it is fully equipped for technical off-road terrain. The 6-speed automatic transmission is tuned for durability, ensuring smooth power delivery whether you are navigating stop-start city traffic or towing a weekend trailer.

Comfort & Cabin

The cabin is configured with seven seats, including a folding third row that allows for flexible cargo space when needed. The air conditioning system is renowned for its 'GCC-spec' power, featuring dedicated rear vents to keep all three rows cool during the peak of summer. Fabric upholstery is chosen for the EXR trim specifically for its heat resistance, while the cooled center console box provides a convenient way to keep drinks chilled during long desert drives.

Safety

Standard safety features on this EXR include dual front airbags, ABS with Brake Assist, and Vehicle Stability Control to manage traction on slippery or sandy surfaces. It is also equipped with Hill-start Assist Control and Downhill Assist Control, providing extra confidence when navigating steep dunes or mountain passes. The inclusion of front and rear parking sensors and a rear-view camera ensures ease of movement in tight urban parking environments.

The bottom line

For the GCC buyer, this V6 Prado EXR represents the perfect balance of legendary Toyota durability and modern tech, making it a safe, high-liquidity investment for both city life and desert adventures.
