Summary

This 2024 BMW Z4 sDrive 20i M Sport offers a rare open-top experience with the engagement of a manual transmission, a combination increasingly difficult to find in the modern GCC market. With less than 6,000 km on the odometer, this San Francisco Red convertible presents as a near-new vehicle, benefiting from the balance of its factory warranty and GCC-specific cooling systems. The M Sport trim elevates the roadster's aesthetic and handling, making it a sharp-looking weekend toy or a stylish daily driver. While many rivals have moved exclusively to automatics, this Z4 remains a pure driver's car that perfectly suits the UAE's well-maintained coastal roads and mountain passes.

This Car vs Other 2024 Z4s

With just 5,826 km, this Z4 is significantly below the average annual GCC mileage of 20,000 km, placing it in the top tier of the used market for mechanical longevity. The San Francisco Red exterior is a high-visibility, premium color that holds strong appeal for roadster enthusiasts in the region, aiding its future resale value. Most 2024 models in the UAE are the automatic sDrive 30i or M40i variants, making this manual 20i a unique find for those prioritizing tactile engagement.

sDrive 20i M SPORT vs Lower Trims

The M Sport trim is the essential upgrade for the Z4, adding the aggressive M Aerodynamics package, M Sport suspension for flatter cornering, and an M leather steering wheel. Inside, this trim replaces standard seats with bolstered M Sport seats and adds the high-gloss Shadowline exterior trim which GCC buyers favor for its modern, premium look. Unlike base models, the M Sport also includes upgraded wheels and interior ambient lighting that enhances the cabin during evening drives.

Z4 vs Segment Rivals

The Z4 leads rivals like the Porsche 718 Boxster and Jaguar F-Type in terms of cabin technology, featuring the superior iDrive 7.0 system and a highly insulated soft top that handles the 45°C UAE summer heat more effectively. While the Boxster offers a mid-engine layout, the Z4 provides a more generous 281-litre boot, making it far more practical for weekend trips between Emirates. Its 2.0-litre turbocharged engine is specifically optimized for efficiency, outperforming larger-displacement rivals in stop-start city traffic.

Running Costs & Resale

Fuel efficiency is a strong point for the sDrive 20i, achieving a combined 7.1 L/100km (WLTP), which translates to impressive range on long desert highway drives. As a GCC-spec vehicle, it is supported by an extensive authorized BMW service network across the UAE, Saudi Arabia, and Kuwait, ensuring parts and specialized maintenance are readily available. The Z4 historically retains approximately 78% of its value after three years in the GCC, a figure expected to be even stronger for this low-mileage manual example.

Performance & Capability

The 197 hp TwinPower Turbo engine provides a linear power delivery, pushing the roadster from 0-100 km/h in 6.8 seconds with a top speed of 241 km/h. The manual transmission allows for precise control over the 320 Nm of torque, making it particularly rewarding on the winding roads of Jebel Jais or Hatta. Standard M Sport suspension ensures the car remains composed at high speeds, while the rear-wheel-drive layout maintains the classic sports car balance BMW is known for.

Comfort & Cabin

The cabin is built to handle the GCC climate, featuring a powerful dual-zone automatic air conditioning system and a premium insulated roof that can be lowered in just 10 seconds. The 10.25-inch digital cockpit provides clear visibility even in direct sunlight, and the M Sport seats are designed to remain comfortable during long drives from Dubai to Abu Dhabi. Acoustic glazing and high-quality interior materials ensure a refined experience, even when cruising at highway speeds with the top up.

Safety

This Z4 is equipped with a comprehensive safety suite including Frontal Collision Warning, Lane Departure Warning, and a rollover protection system integrated into the headrests. For the high-speed multi-lane highways of the GCC, the Dynamic Stability Control (DSC) and Cornering Brake Control provide essential layers of protection. Standard parking sensors and a rearview camera make navigating tight urban parking spaces in Downtown Dubai effortless.

The bottom line

For the driving enthusiast seeking a modern, low-mileage roadster with the rare engagement of a manual gearbox, this GCC-spec Z4 sDrive 20i M Sport is a standout opportunity in the current market.
