Summary

This 2024 Premier trim represents the highest specification of Chevrolet's popular seven-seater SUV, offering a premium cabin experience for family-oriented buyers. In the GCC market, the black exterior remains a resilient choice for resale value, while the modern turbocharged powertrain balances city efficiency with highway stability. As a GCC-spec vehicle, it is fully optimized for regional heat with enhanced cooling systems and local warranty compatibility. With three rows of seating in a compact footprint, this model serves as a versatile workhorse for school runs and cross-emirate weekend trips alike.

This Car vs Other 2024 Captivas

With just over 75,000 km, this Captiva reflects typical high-usage highway driving common across the GCC. While the mileage is slightly above the regional average for a one-year-old vehicle, the Premier trim's higher equipment levels and the timeless black finish help maintain its position as a desirable used market asset compared to lower LS or LT trims.

Premier vs Lower Trims

The Premier trim significantly upgrades the ownership experience by adding a 360-degree camera system and 18-inch alloy wheels, which are unavailable on the LS. Inside, you benefit from a 6-way power-adjustable driver’s seat and a larger 10.4-inch vertical touchscreen that serves as the command center for the entire cabin, offering a far more tech-forward feel than the base trims.

Captiva vs Segment Rivals

When compared to the Toyota Rush or Mitsubishi Xpander, the Captiva stands out with its 1.5L turbocharged engine, providing more accessible low-end torque for easier overtaking on busy highways like Sheikh Zayed Road. Its monocoque construction also delivers a more car-like, refined ride quality during long-distance travel than some of its body-on-frame competitors.

Running Costs & Resale

Real-world fuel economy is a strong suit, averaging approximately 14.6 km/L, making it one of the more economical seven-seaters in GCC stop-start traffic. Chevrolet’s extensive authorized service network across the UAE, Saudi Arabia, and Oman ensures parts are readily available and maintenance is straightforward. The model typically follows a standard depreciation curve of approximately 15-20% in its first two years, retaining value well for budget-conscious families.

Performance & Capability

The 1.5L turbocharged four-cylinder engine produces 143 hp and 255 Nm of torque, paired with a smooth CVT that prioritizes fuel savings and linear power delivery. While designed for the road, the front-wheel-drive setup handles urban commutes and paved inter-city highways with ease. It features selectable drive modes to assist in varying road conditions, ensuring a stable and predictable driving experience even when fully loaded with seven passengers.

Comfort & Cabin

The cabin is tailored for the GCC climate, featuring a powerful air conditioning system with dedicated vents for the second and third rows to ensure all passengers remain cool during peak summer. The Premier trim includes premium synthetic leather upholstery and a panoramic sunroof that adds an airy feel to the interior. Practicality is maximized by the flat-folding rear seats, allowing you to quickly transition from a family hauler to a cargo-ready SUV with significant boot space.

Safety

Standard safety equipment on the Premier trim includes front and rear parking sensors, a 360-degree camera for navigating tight parking spots, and Electronic Stability Control. It is equipped with four airbags and ISOFIX child seat anchors, alongside a Tire Pressure Monitoring System which is vital for safe highway driving in the extreme regional heat. The reinforced body structure and ABS with Brake Assist provide an extra layer of security for family duties.

The bottom line

For a growing family seeking the latest technology and maximum seating capacity without the high running costs of a large V8 SUV, this top-trim Captiva is a pragmatic and stylish choice.
