Summary

This 2024 Chevrolet Captiva Premier represents a sharp buying opportunity for those seeking a modern family crossover with remarkably low mileage for its age. Dressed in a versatile Grey that holds its value well in the GCC market, this top-spec Premier trim offers the best of the model's updated technology and comfort. As a GCC-spec vehicle, it is purpose-built to handle the region's intense summer heat while providing the fuel efficiency of a compact engine. The Captiva stands out in the segment by offering high-end features like a 360-degree camera and a panoramic roof at a much more accessible price point than its rivals. For any buyer in the UAE or across the GCC, this is a balanced choice that blends American branding with practical, everyday running costs.

This Car vs Other 2024 Captivas

With just over 54,000 km, this Captiva has been driven roughly in line with the GCC annual average, ensuring it remains well within its mechanical prime. The Grey exterior is a highly sought-after neutral tone in the UAE, offering a significant resale advantage over brighter colors. As a 2024 model, it benefits from the latest facelift enhancements, including the more aggressive front grille and updated LED lighting signatures.

PREMIER vs Lower Trims

The Premier trim is a significant step up from the LS and LT, adding the essential 360-degree surround-view camera that makes parking in tight city spots effortless. Inside, you get the larger 7-inch digital driver information cluster and a 6-way power-adjustable driver's seat, features not found on base models. The most notable upgrade is the panoramic sunroof, which completely transforms the cabin ambiance for all passengers.

Captiva vs Segment Rivals

When compared to the Toyota Rush or Mitsubishi ASX, the Captiva Premier leads with a more sophisticated 10.4-inch vertical infotainment system that mirrors modern smartphone ergonomics. Its turbocharged engine provides better low-end torque for highway overtaking compared to naturally aspirated rivals in this price bracket. The interior volume and cargo flexibility also edge out many compact crossovers, making it a truer family vehicle.

Running Costs & Resale

The 1.5L turbo engine is designed for efficiency, typically averaging around 7.5 to 8.5 L/100km in mixed GCC driving conditions. Chevrolet maintains an extensive authorized service network across the UAE, Saudi Arabia, and Oman, ensuring parts are affordable and readily available. This GCC-spec model enjoys better value retention than non-regional imports, typically depreciating at a steady, predictable rate similar to its American peers.

Performance & Capability

The 144 hp turbocharged engine is paired with a smooth CVT, optimized for fuel-saving city commutes and steady cruising on the E11. While built as a front-wheel-drive city SUV, its suspension is tuned to soak up the speed humps and road imperfections common in urban residential areas. It provides a relaxed, car-like driving experience that prioritizes passenger comfort over aggressive performance.

Comfort & Cabin

Inside, the Premier trim features black leatherette upholstery with refined beige accents, creating a more upscale environment for five occupants. The air conditioning system is specifically calibrated for the GCC, featuring dedicated rear vents to keep all passengers cool during the peak summer months. Technology is a highlight, with wired Apple CarPlay and Android Auto standard on the high-resolution central display.

Safety

This Premier trim comes equipped with a comprehensive safety suite, including six airbags, electronic stability control, and hill-start assist. The inclusion of front and rear parking sensors alongside the 360-degree camera provides a high level of situational awareness. These active systems are particularly useful for navigating fast-moving highway traffic and crowded school drop-off zones across the region.

The bottom line

This is the ideal choice for a small family or professional looking for a near-new, top-trim SUV that prioritizes technology and fuel economy without the premium price tag of a larger 4x4.
