Summary

This 2023 Chevrolet Captiva LS represents a modern, efficient choice for families looking for a versatile crossover in the GCC. Finished in a vibrant Red that holds strong visibility and appeal in the local market, this vehicle bridges the gap between a compact footprint and SUV practicality. While many examples in the region are pushed into high-mileage commercial use, this unit remains a well-balanced option for a private buyer seeking 2023-model-year technology at a competitive price point. Its turbocharged 1.5L engine is specifically tuned for the balance of fuel economy and stop-start city traffic typical of major GCC hubs. For the buyer prioritizing low running costs without sacrificing a modern cabin experience, this Captiva is a standout candidate.

This Car vs Other 2023 Captivas

With 89,920 km on the odometer, this Captiva has been driven more than the typical 20,000–25,000 km annual average for the GCC, reflecting its readiness for long-distance commuting. The Red exterior is a distinctive alternative to the common white or silver, offering a more personalized look while maintaining good resale interest for newer model years. Choosing a 2023 model ensures you benefit from the latest generation's chassis refinements and updated infotainment software.

LS vs Lower Trims

The LS serves as the essential entry point into the Captiva range, yet it avoids feeling basic by including the 8-inch Chevrolet Infotainment System as standard. Unlike older base models in this segment, the LS trim provides critical modern tech like Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, alongside standard cruise control for highway driving. It features durable 18-inch alloy wheels and LED daytime running lights, ensuring it looks just as premium on the road as the higher LT trim.

Captiva vs Segment Rivals

The Captiva competes directly with the Toyota Rush and Mitsubishi ASX, leading the way with a more modern, tech-focused interior featuring a larger standard touchscreen. While the Rush offers a traditional RWD setup, the Captiva's FWD platform provides a more car-like driving experience and superior fuel efficiency for city-bound families. Its 52-litre fuel tank ensures fewer stops during cross-country drives compared to smaller-capacity competitors in the compact crossover class.

Running Costs & Resale

Running costs are a major advantage for the Captiva, with a manufacturer-official combined fuel consumption of approximately 6.0 L/100km. Service intervals are typically every 10,000 km, and Chevrolet’s extensive authorized service network across the UAE and KSA ensures parts are readily available and affordable. In the GCC used market, the Captiva experiences a standard depreciation rate for American-branded crossovers, though its popularity in the UAE helps maintain a healthy floor for resale value.

Performance & Capability

Powered by a 1.5L turbocharged 4-cylinder engine producing 149 hp and 255 Nm of torque, the Captiva delivers smooth, linear power ideal for urban environments. The CVT transmission is optimized for efficiency, helping the vehicle achieve a respectable 0–100 km/h time of 9.5 seconds for its class. While designed primarily for tarmac, its ground clearance allows for confident navigation over speed bumps and gravel access roads common in newer residential developments.

Comfort & Cabin

The 5-seat layout in this LS trim maximizes second-row legroom and offers a generous cargo area that easily accommodates family gear or weekly groceries. The cabin is equipped with a powerful air conditioning system featuring rear cooling vents, a mandatory requirement for maintaining comfort during peak GCC summer months. Acoustic insulation has been improved in this generation to keep the cabin quiet during high-speed highway cruising between Emirates.

Safety

Safety is well-covered with standard dual front airbags and a suite of active electronic aids including ABS, Electronic Brakeforce Distribution (EBD), and Stability Control. The LS trim also includes a rear-view camera and rear parking sensors as standard, providing essential assistance in tight urban parking spots. Additionally, the Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS) helps drivers maintain optimal safety and efficiency during long desert highway journeys.

The bottom line

This 2023 Captiva LS is the ideal match for a budget-conscious family or professional who needs a recent-year SUV with modern smartphone connectivity and class-leading fuel economy.
