Summary

This 2024 GAC GS8 GX presents a compelling opportunity for GCC buyers seeking a nearly-new flagship SUV without the showroom price tag. With mileage well under the regional annual average of 25,000 km, this vehicle remains in peak mechanical condition, benefiting from its specific GCC-spec engineering designed to handle extreme desert heat. The GX trim is the most sought-after in the used market because it packs premium features like ventilated seats and advanced driver aids that are essential for long drives between cities like Dubai and Riyadh. The stunning Green exterior is a unique, premium choice that stands out from the typical sea of white and silver while maintaining strong secondary market interest due to its sophisticated aesthetic. For a growing family in the Gulf, the combination of a spacious 7-seat layout and a fuel-efficient yet capable 4WD powertrain makes this a highly practical and modern choice. Owning a GCC-spec GAC means you enjoy full support from a growing network of authorized service centers across the UAE and Saudi Arabia, ensuring long-term peace of mind and excellent resale value retention.

This Car vs Other 2024 GS8s

When comparing this specific unit to other 2024 GS8s currently on the market, the primary advantage is the exceptionally low mileage for its first year of operation. While many SUVs in the GCC cover upwards of 30,000 km annually due to long-distance commuting, this vehicle has been driven sparingly, meaning significantly less wear on the suspension and interior components. The Green paintwork is another differentiator; it is a rarer, high-spec color that conveys a sense of luxury and exclusivity that is often missing from base-model white or grey iterations. Since it is a 2024 model, the vehicle retains the vast majority of its manufacturer warranty, providing a level of security comparable to a brand-new purchase. Choosing a GCC-spec example like this one over independent imports ensures that the radiator, air conditioning, and seals are all optimized for the unique environmental demands of the Middle East.

GX vs Lower Trims

Stepping up to the GX trim provides a transformative experience over the entry-level GS8 variants, adding features that are essentially mandatory for the GCC climate. Most notably, the GX includes advanced seat ventilation for the front passengers, a feature that becomes a daily necessity during the intense summer months in the Emirates. You also gain a more sophisticated 360-degree camera system, which makes navigating tight parking spots in busy urban malls far simpler than in lower trims equipped only with basic sensors. The interior materials are noticeably upgraded in the GX, featuring more premium touchpoints and a superior sound-insulation package that creates a quieter cabin on the highway. Additionally, the GX is equipped with the full suite of ADAS safety technologies, including adaptive cruise control and lane-keeping assistance, which are often omitted or simplified on base models. This trim essentially offers a European-level luxury experience with the reliability and regional suitability GAC is known for.

GS8 vs Segment Rivals

In the highly competitive full-size SUV segment, the GAC GS8 holds its own against established rivals such as the Kia Sorento, Hyundai Santa Fe, and even more expensive alternatives like the Toyota Highlander. One of the standout advantages of the GS8 is its sheer physical presence and interior volume; it offers a level of legroom in the second and third rows that rivals often struggle to match. While many competitors in this price bracket provide front-wheel drive as standard, this GS8 comes with a robust Four Wheel Drive system, providing extra stability and minor trail capability for weekend desert excursions. The cabin tech in the GAC is often described as feeling a generation ahead of Japanese rivals, featuring larger high-definition screens and a more intuitive interface. Furthermore, the GAC’s air conditioning system is widely praised in the region for its rapid cooling ability, often outperforming European competitors that are not as strictly optimized for 50-degree Celsius days. For buyers who want the latest technology and massive road presence at a more accessible price point than traditional premium brands, the GS8 is the clear leader.

Running Costs & Resale

Running a modern SUV like the GS8 in the GCC is surprisingly economical thanks to its efficient 1500cc turbocharged engine, which balances 200 hp with impressive fuel consumption. In typical GCC driving, you can expect excellent highway efficiency during long cruises between Emirates, while the stop-start traffic of Dubai and Abu Dhabi is managed well by the refined automatic transmission. Fuel is readily available across the region, and since this is a GCC-spec vehicle, it is optimized to run perfectly on local fuel grades without issue. Service intervals are standard for the brand, and GAC has invested heavily in a localized parts distribution network, meaning you won’t face the long wait times sometimes associated with newer brands. In terms of resale, the GS8 has proven to be one of the strongest Chinese-made SUVs in the UAE and Saudi markets, holding its value significantly better than its direct competitors from similar origins. You can expect a predictable depreciation curve that mimics many mid-range Japanese SUVs, especially when the car is maintained with a full service history at an authorized center.

Performance & Capability

Powering this flagship SUV is a responsive 1500cc engine producing a healthy 200 hp, which provides ample grunt for highway merging and overtaking at speed. The Four Wheel Drive system is a critical addition for UAE owners, offering enhanced traction during heavy rain on high-speed motorways or when traversing loose gravel roads on the way to a mountain campsite. The GS8 is engineered with a focus on ride comfort, featuring a suspension setup that glides over road imperfections and provides a dignified experience for all seven passengers. With 200 hp on tap and a well-tuned automatic gearbox, the 0-100 km/h performance is more than adequate for its class, ensuring the car never feels sluggish even when fully loaded with a large family and luggage. Ground clearance is generous for its segment, giving drivers confidence when navigating high kerbs or uneven terrain. This vehicle is perfectly suited for the diverse driving landscape of the Gulf, from the multi-lane highways of Riyadh to the scenic coastal roads of Oman.

Comfort & Cabin

The interior of the GX trim is designed to be a sanctuary from the harsh outdoor environment of the Middle East. It features a spacious 7-seat configuration that prioritized passenger comfort, with dedicated air conditioning vents for every row to ensure everyone stays cool regardless of the external temperature. The seats are upholstered in high-quality materials, with the GX trim specifically offering enhanced adjustment options and those vital ventilated front seats for the driver and passenger. Cabin insulation is a highlight, with GAC engineers using extensive damping materials to ensure that wind and road noise are kept to a minimum even at 120 km/h. The large panoramic sunroof allows for a bright, airy feel during the cooler months, while a high-quality sunshade blocks out the heat during the summer. For tech-savvy families, the GS8 offers multiple charging ports and a premium audio system that provides crystal-clear sound throughout the vast cabin, making it an ideal companion for long cross-border road trips.

Safety

Safety is where the GAC GS8 truly excels, having earned a maximum 5-Star rating in rigorous NCAP crash testing. This GX trim is equipped with a comprehensive suite of Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) that act as an extra set of eyes on the road. Features like Blind Spot Monitoring are incredibly useful on the fast-moving, multi-lane highways typical of the GCC, while the Automatic Emergency Braking provides an essential safety net for unpredictable city traffic. The adaptive cruise control is a game-changer for the long, straight drives across the desert, allowing the car to maintain a safe distance from the vehicle ahead automatically. With multiple airbags, electronic stability control, and a high-strength steel cage construction, the GS8 provides the peace of mind that family buyers demand. This level of safety technology is often a costly option on other SUVs in this class, but here it is standard, making it one of the safest choices on the road today.

The bottom line

This 2024 GAC GS8 GX is the perfect choice for a family buyer who wants a high-tech, luxury SUV with the peace of mind of a GCC-spec warranty and low mileage. It offers a premium 7-seat experience at a fraction of the cost of European equivalents, making it one of the smartest value-for-money buys in the current market.
